Terrence Mahon
Terrence Mahon (born October 5, 1970) is an American distance running coach. Mahon coaches many notable long distance and middle distance runners, including Olympians Deena Kastor, Anna Pierce, and Jen Rhines. Mahon also coached Ryan Hall for five years. In 2011 he coached Morgan Uceny to the number one world ranking in the 1500 meters, coached ultra runner Josh Cox to the second fastest 50k time in history, and guided Irishman Alistair Cragg to a new National Record in the 5,000 meters, and in 2012 coached Alistair to European and Irish records in the road 5k at the Carlsbad 5000. Mahon ran for and graduated from La Habra High School in La Habra. Mahon attended Villanova University as an undergraduate, where he was an All-American runner. Mahon ran a 2:13:02 in the Chicago Marathon in 1997, and won the U.S. 20 k Championships. Long Distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Sarah Pagano (born July 23, 1991) is an American long-distance runner. She is referred to as "Spags" by friends and teammates. Pagano began running competitively at Immaculate Heart Academy, where she won multiple state titles in both indoor and outdoor competition. Professional Pagano competed for Team USA at IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda. At the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, she competed at 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships to 30th place in 35:18 and 2018 NACAC Championships 4th place over 10,000 meters. Fleet won two 1500 m NCAA titles in the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships and 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Nikki Hiltz (born October 23, 1994) is a mid-distance runner from Aptos, California. Hiltz attended Aptos High School, where in 2012 they won the CIF California State Championship in the 1600 meters. Andrew Butchart
Andrew Butchart (born 14 October 1991) is a British runner who competed in the 5000 metres event at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the current Scottish record holder in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metre events. In June 2023, he broke the parkrun “world-record”. Chris O'Hare (born 23 November 1990) is a Scottish middle-distance runner who competes in the 1500 metres. 2015 World Championships In Athletics
The 2015 IAAF World Championships ( zh, 第十五届世界田径锦标赛), the fifteenth edition of the IAAF World Championships, were held from 22 to 30 August at the National Stadium in Beijing, China. Forty-three nations won medals, 144 of which were awarded. Kenya topped the medal table for the first time, with 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. The United States won 18 medals, six gold, six silver and six bronze, which was the highest tally. Host nation China, finished 11th on the medals table, while Russia finished ninth. 205 IAAF member countries and territories participated, two more than in 2013, with new IAAF member, Kosovo, making its debut. South Sudan was also set to participate for the first time, but its sole athlete did not show up in Beijing.
