Terence Finlay
Terence Edward Finlay (May 19, 1937 – March 20, 2017) was a Canadian Anglican bishop. He served as Metropolitan of Ontario and Archbishop of Toronto from 2000 to 2004. He graduated from Huron University College at University of Western Ontario in 1959, where he became a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He became a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. He was consecrated as a bishop in 1986 and appointed area bishop of the Trent-Durham episcopal area. He was elected co-adjutor bishop of Toronto in 1987 and installed as the 10th Bishop of Toronto in 1989. He became the 16th Metropolitan of Ontario and Archbishop of Toronto in October 2000. He retired in 2004. Renison University College awarded him an Honorary Senior Fellowship in 1992. Huron University College at Western University bestowed him with its "Alumni Award of Distinction" in 2006. Ecclesiastical Province Of Ontario
The Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario is one of four ecclesiastical provinces in the Anglican Church of Canada. It was established in 1912 out of six dioceses of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada located in the civil province of Ontario, and the Diocese of Moosonee from the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land. Anglican Diocese Of Toronto
The Diocese of Toronto is an administrative division of the Anglican Church of Canada covering the central part of southern Ontario. It was founded in 1839 and is the oldest of the seven dioceses comprising the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario. It has the most members of any Anglican diocese in Canada. It is also one of the biggest Anglican dioceses in the Americas in terms of numbers of parishioners, clergy and parishes. Huron University College
Huron University College is a university college affiliated with the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. Huron was incorporated on 5 May 1863 and the founding institution of the University of Western Ontario. It was established in 1863 by two Anglican clergyman and is the oldest affiliated institution of the University of Western Ontario. Huron is also home to an Anglican seminary. Sigma Chi () International Fraternity is one of the largest North American fraternal literary societies. The fraternity has 244 active (undergraduate) chapters and 152 alumni chapters across the United States and Canada and has initiated more than 350,000 members. The fraternity was founded on June 28, 1855, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, by members who split from the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. James Ferry (priest)
James Ferry is a priest of the Anglican Church of Canada. In 1992 he was removed from his parish after it was revealed that he was gay and in a relationship with another man. Raised in the United Church of Canada, later a member of a Baptist congregation, Ferry joined the Anglican Church in his twenties. He studied at the University of Toronto at Scarborough, Tyndale University College (then Ontario Bible College) and Wycliffe College. He was inhibited from functioning as a priest and later became affiliated with the Metropolitan Community Church, a gay and lesbian founded church which has taken an explicitly gay-affirming stance including the ordination of openly gay candidates for the ministry.
