Tennis Club Odense
Tennis Club Odense is a Danish sporting club in Odense, Denmark. Founded in 1889 as part of Odense Boldklub, Tennis Club Odense is the oldest tennis club on the Danish island Funen. In 1996, the club withdrew from Odense Boldklub and founded the independent tennis club, operating under its current name since 2007. Tennis Club Odense is a member of Funen Tennis Association (FTU) and the Danish Tennis Association (DTF), the governing bodies of Funen and Danish lawn tennis, respectively. It has 13 outdoor courts (12 of which are clay courts), but despite being the largest tennis club in Denmark's third largest city, it has had no permanent indoor courts since 2004. Since 2007, however, members of Tennis Club Odense have played indoor tennis in the club's temporary facilities in a local warehouse. The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is the principal organizing body of women's professional tennis. It governs the WTA Tour which is the worldwide professional tennis tour for women and was founded to create a better future for women's tennis. Kristian Peter Pless (born 9 February 1981) is a former professional male tennis player from Denmark. Tennis career Juniors Pless had an excellent junior career, winning the 1999 Australian Open Boys' Singles (defeated Mikhail Youzhny), and reaching the Boys' final at both Wimbledon (lost to Jürgen Melzer), and the US Open (lost to Jarkko Nieminen) the same year. Danish Open (tennis)
The Danish Open (sponsored as the e-Boks Open) was a professional women's tennis tournament played 2010–12 on indoor hard courts in Farum, Denmark north of Copenhagen. The event was affiliated with the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and is an International-level tournament on the WTA Tour. The tournament may be viewed as a continuation of the ITF event 2008 Nordea Danish Open in Odense. A plan to change surface to red clay in 2012, still played indoors in Farum, was dropped due to the cost. The tournament was selected to be held in April until at least 2015, however on November 9, 2012, the event was cancelled from the 2013 WTA Tour and replaced by a new tournament Katowice Open held in Katowice, Poland.
