State Route 294 (SR 294) is a north–south secondary state highway in eastern Middle Tennessee. Route description SR 294 begins on the east side of Livingston, in Overton County. It runs concurrently with SR 111 from the city limits to just short of Monroe, where SR 294 turns onto Willow Grove Highway. SR 294's northern terminus is located outside of the parking lot of the Willow Grove Resort, a lodging establishment along the shores of Dale Hollow Lake. This is located in the one area of dry land in Clay County that can only be accessed from Overton County. Livingston is a town in Overton County, Tennessee, United States, and serves as the county seat. The population was 3,905 at the 2020 census and 4,058 at the 2010 census. The current mayor, Curtis Hayes, began serving his mayoral position in September 2006. Livingston is part of the Cookeville, Tennessee Micropolitan Statistical Area. Willow Grove, Tennessee
Willow Grove was a small town in eastern Clay County, Tennessee, United States. Named for the willow trees in the area, the town was located due east of Celina. It was located along the banks of Iron Creek, a tributary of the Obey River. History The town was a settlement founded by five families from New York State. The land was purchased from Cherokee Indians at sometime prior to 1785. In the 1920s and 1930s, Willow Grove was Clay County's second largest town, behind only the county seat, Celina. It was a thriving village complete with a gristmill, a school, a few churches, and a couple of businesses. The town stood on what was the area's most valuable agricultural land. In 1942, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bought the land in which the town was located in, thereby forcing its residents to relocate out of the area prior to the demolition of homes and other buildings as part of the impoundment of the area. Overton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 22,511. Its county seat is Livingston. Overton County is part of the Cookeville, TN Micropolitan Statistical Area. History On May 10, 1933, a half-mile wide F4 tornado struck the small community of Beatty Swamps (also referred to as Bethsadia). The tornado destroyed every structure in the town and either killed or injured nearly every inhabitant, with 33 of the 35 deaths occurring in the area. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. State Route 111 (SR 111) is a north–south highway in Middle and East Tennessee. The road begins in Soddy-Daisy and ends north of Byrdstown in the community of Static, at the Tennessee/Kentucky state line. The length is . Route description The highway begins at an interchange with U.S. Route 27/ SR 29 (US 27/SR 29) in Soddy-Daisy. SR 111 travels generally northwest as a controlled access highway before it crosses into Sequatchie County. The controlled-access sections of SR 111 are unusual, as they contain 70 mph speed limits, which are generally reserved for Interstate highways. Dale Hollow Lake
The Dale Hollow Reservoir is a reservoir situated on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. The lake is formed by the damming of the Obey River, 7.3 miles (12 km) above its juncture with the Cumberland River at river mile 380. Portions of the lake also cover the Wolf River. Dale Hollow is one of four major flood control reservoirs for the Cumberland; the others being Percy Priest Lake, Lake Cumberland, and Center Hill Lake. It is also the site of Dale Hollow Lake State Park on the north (Kentucky) side.
