Tenebrism (horse)
Tenebrism (foaled 11 March 2019) is an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2021 she won a minor race on her debut and then returned from a lengthy absence to take the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Background Tenebrism is a bay filly with a white star and snip bred in Kentucky by Merriebelle Stables in association with Orpendale/Chelston/Wynatt, a breeding company linked to the Coolmore Stud. She was sent into training with Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle. She is owned in partnership by Merriebelle, Coolmore and Georg von Opel. She was from the first crop of foals sired by Caravaggio, a sprinter whose wins included the Phoenix Stakes and Commonwealth Cup. Tenebrism's dam Immortal Verse was an outstanding racemare who won the Coronation Stakes and the Prix Jacques le Marois in 2011. Commonwealth Cup (horse Race)
The Commonwealth Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to colts and fillies aged three years. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. The Commonwealth Cup was introduced in 2015 as part of changes to the programme of sprint horse races in Europe. The Diamond Jubilee Stakes, run over the same course and distance at the same meeting, was closed to three-year-olds at the same time. The new race was subsequently named the Commonwealth Cup and the Buckingham Palace Stakes was removed from the Royal Ascot meeting to make room for the new race. Valentine Waltz
Valentine Waltz (foaled 14 February 1996) was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old she was initially trained in Ireland where she failed to win in four races although she did finish third in the Marble Hill Stakes. Later in the year she was moved to England and improved, winning a minor race and being placed in both the Rockingham Stakes and the Rockfel Stakes. In the following year she developed into one of the best fillies of her generation in Europe, winning the Nell Gwyn Stakes and the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches as well as finishing third in both the 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes. After her retirement from racing she became a broodmare and had modest success as a dam of winners. Background Valentine Waltz was a bay mare bred in Ireland by the County Limerick-based Kilfrush Stud. Eurobird (horse)
Eurobird (11 February 1984 – after 2005) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. A specialist stayer who was well-suited by soft or heavy ground, she was the third Classic race winner produced by the broodmare Irish Bird. As a three-year-old in 1987 she made steady improvement, winning the Kinderhill Oaks Trial, Blandford Stakes and Irish St. Leger by wide margins as well as finishing third in the Irish Oaks. At the end of the year she was rated the best filly in Europe over fourteen furlongs and further. She failed to win as a four-year-old but ran several good races in defeat. She later had considerable success as a broodmare, being the dam of at least ten winners.
