Tempo (video Game)
is a video game for the Sega 32X released in 1995. It was developed by Sega and Red Company and published by Sega. Story In ''Tempo'', the titular grasshopper character Tempo and his friend, Katy, star on the Major Minor Show as they climb the top of the tower to defeat King Dirge. Gameplay The stages are presented as performances on a musical variety show like Soul Train. The game uses hand-drawn graphics for the backgrounds and sprites. Reception On release, ''Famicom Tsūshin'' scored the game a 30 out of 40. Though they commented on the lack of originality in the gameplay, ''GamePro'' concluded that ''Tempos "dazzling" background graphics, rich soundtrack, and extremely low difficulty make it "a perfect game for novices." In ''GameFan'' magazine, Dave Halverson, Nick Rox and K. Lee rated the game 79, 80, and 88, respectively. Platformers
A platform game (often simplified as platformer and sometimes called a jump 'n' run game) is a sub-genre of action video games in which the core objective is to move the player character between points in an environment. Platform games are characterized by levels that consist of uneven terrain and suspended platforms of varying height that require jumping and climbing to traverse. 32X Games
The 32X is an add-on for the Sega Genesis video game console. Codenamed "Project Mars", the 32X was designed to expand the power of the Genesis and serve as a holdover until the release of the Sega Saturn. Independent of the Genesis, the 32X used its own ROM cartridges and had its own library of games. A total of 40 titles were produced worldwide, including six that required both the 32X and Sega CD add-ons, and ten that were released only in North America. Sega Saturn
The is a home video game console developed by Sega and released on November 22, 1994, in Japan, May 11, 1995, in North America, and July 8, 1995, in Europe. Part of the fifth generation of video game consoles, it was the successor to the successful Sega Genesis. The Saturn has a dual- CPU architecture and eight processors. Its games are in CD-ROM format, and its game library contains several ports of arcade games as well as original games. Development of the Saturn began in 1992, the same year Sega's groundbreaking 3D Model 1 arcade hardware debuted. is a 1998 Japanese video game for the Sega Saturn. It followed ''Tempo'' for the Sega 32X and ''Tempo Jr.'' for the Game Gear. The game uses stylized 2D cartoon graphics. Plot In the winter music world, the Prince of Music World is kidnapped and taken to The Planet Technotch. Meanwhile, the green grasshopper boy “Tempo” and his girlfriend, the cabbage white butterfly girl “Katy” went bankrupt. After discovering a happy blue bird, the two follow the bird and find a mysterious house. There, they realized that the Prince of Music World was kidnapped. Tempo now teams up with Katy to rescue the Prince of Music World from Planet Technotch and thus, the story of their exit from bankruptcy began. Game Gear
The is an 8-bit fourth generation handheld game console released by Sega on October 6, 1990, in Japan, in April 1991 throughout North America and Europe, and during 1992 in Australia. The Game Gear primarily competed with Nintendo's Game Boy, the Atari Lynx, and NEC's TurboExpress. It shares much of its hardware with the Master System, and can play Master System games by the use of an adapter. Sega positioned the Game Gear, which had a full-color backlit screen with a landscape format, as a technologically superior handheld to the Game Boy. Though the Game Gear was rushed to market, its unique game library and price point gave it an edge over the Atari Lynx and TurboExpress.
