Temasek Polytechnic
Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is a post-secondary education institution and statutory board under the purview of the Ministry of Education in Singapore. Established in 1990, it is the only polytechnic in Singapore offering a law programme. History 1989–1995 In June 1989, Minister for Education Tony Tan announced that a third polytechnic is being considered and in April 1990, Temasek Polytechnic was established with an initial enrolment of 735 students. The polytechnic originally set up at Baharuddin Vocational Institute's premises at Stirling Road and the vacated premises of Raffles Institution at Grange Road. Due to increased enrolment and the introduction of new courses, three more campuses at Kim Seng, Bukit Merah and Portsdown Road were acquired to house the polytechnic's student population. 1995: Moving to a permanent location In September 1995, the permanent campus for Temasek Polytechnic was completed and it moved to its current location in the town of Tampines. 2012–p ...

Temasek (also spelt Temasik) is an early recorded name of a settlement on the site of modern Singapore. The name appears in early Malay and Javanese literature, and it is also recorded in Yuan and Ming Chinese documents as ''Danmaxi'' ( or ). Two distinct settlements were recorded in Temasek – Long Ya Men and Ban Zu. The name is used in modern-day Singapore for national honours as well as institutions and corporations. Name The origin of the name Temasek is uncertain, but it has been proposed that it was derived from the Malay word ''tasik'' meaning "lake" or "sea", and may mean here "place surrounded by the sea", or Sea Town. Another suggestion is that it may be a reference to a king of Srivijaya, Maharaja ''Tan ma sa na ho''. The name appears as ''Tumasik'' in the Old Javanese epic poem written in 1365, Nagarakretagama, which basically the word ''tasik'' "sea" infixed by ''-um-'' (active verb infix). Singapore Idol
''Singapore Idol'' is a reality television singing competition created by Simon Fuller and produced by MediaCorp Studios and FremantleMedia Operations BV. It began airing on MediaCorp Channel 5 on 9 August 2004, as an addition to the Idol franchise based on the UK show Pop Idol, and became one of the most popular shows in the history of Singaporean television. The concept of the series is to find new solo recording artists where the winner is determined by the viewers. Through telephone and SMS text voting, viewers have chosen as winners Taufik Batisah, Hady Mirza and Sezairi Sezali. The series employs a panel of judges who critique the contestants' performances. The original four judges during season 1 were singer/songwriter Dick Lee, Florence Lian, record producer Ken Lim and singer Douglas Oliverio. Singapore National Netball Team
The Singapore national netball team are the national netball team representing Singapore. The Singapore team have competed at seven World Netball Championships (1967, 1975, 1999, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019). They have also won two Nations Cup titles (2005, 2006). In 2005, the Singaporean team won the Asian Netball Championship with a win over the Malaysian team, scoring 53–39 in the finals. As of 30 June 2019, Singapore are 26th on the INF World Rankings. Charmaine Soh
Charmaine Soh Shi Hui (born 24 March 1990) is a Singaporean netball player and captain of the Singapore national team who plays either as a goal attack or goal shooter. Charmaine officially captained the national side at the 2019 Netball World Cup replacing Vanessa Marie Lee who took a brief break from the sport in 2018. She has featured in three World Cup tournaments for Singapore in 2011, 2015 and 2019. Career Charmaine Soh has been a regular member of the Singaporean team since 2011 following her debut Netball World Cup appearance during the 2011 edition. Hany Soh
Hany Soh Hui Bin ( zh, s=苏慧敏, p=Sū Huìmǐn; born 1987) is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), she has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Woodgrove division of Marsiling–Yew Tee GRC since 2020. Jalan Besar GRC
Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency composed of several city suburbs surrounding the Central Area of Singapore. There are four wards in the GRC: Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng, Kolam Ayer, Whampoa and lastly Kampong Glam. Wan Rizal bin Wan Zakariah (born 1978) is a Singaporean politician and sport science lecturer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Kolam Ayer division of Jalan Besar GRC since 2020.
