Tello, Huila
Tello is a town and municipality in the Huila Department, Colombia. It is characterized by its extensive plain between the Magdalena River and the foot of the Cordillera Oriental (Colombia), Cordillera Oriental mountain range up to its peaks, with the Fortalecillas and Villavieja rivers located nearby. Its territorial extension is 589 km², its altitude is 575 meters above sea level and its climate is warm with an average temperature of 26°C. It has a population of 14,536 inhabitants according to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Colombia), DANE projection for 2019. The urban area of the municipality is located in the northeast part of the department (Sub-North Region). Its economy is based on agricultural production and livestock activity. The Municipalities of Colombia are decentralized subdivisions of the Republic of Colombia. Municipalities make up most of the departments of Colombia with 1,122 municipalities (''municipios''). Huila () is one of the departments of Colombia. It is located in the southwest of the country, and its capital is Neiva. Demography and Ethnography Huila is a department that has a population of 1,122,622 inhabitants, of which 679,667 (60.54%) people live in municipal capitals and 442,955 (39.46%) in the rest of the Huilense territory. This corresponds to 2.5% of the total Colombian population. Cordillera Oriental (Colombia)
The Cordillera Oriental ( en, Eastern Ranges) is the widest of the three branches of the Colombian Andes. The range extends from south to north dividing from the Colombian Massif in Huila Department to Norte de Santander Department where it splits into the Serranía del Perijá and the Cordillera de Mérida in Venezuelan Andes. The highest peak is Ritacuba Blanco at in the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy.
