Television Channels In Bangladesh
Around 45 privately owned television channels were permitted by the Government of Bangladesh as of 2019, of which thirty four are currently on air. Five television channels, namely CSB News, Channel 1, Diganta Television, Islamic TV, and Channel 16, have been taken off air. Bangladesh has four state-owned television stations, of which only three broadcast on terrestrial television, which are BTV Dhaka, BTV Chittagong, and Sangsad Television. In total, there are 49 television channels in Bangladesh, with 38 currently on-air. State-owned As of today, Bangladesh has four state-owned television channels. RTV ( bn, আরটিভি) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Bengal Media Corporation. , The Bangladesh Observer, 11 November 2005. It is headquartered in the BSEC Building in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka. RTV began broadcasting on 26 December 2005 as a sister channel of NTV, and primarily airs entertainment and news programming. Deepto TV
Deepto TV ( bn, দীপ্ত টিভি; ) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel, owned and operated by Kazi Media Limited, a subsidiary of Kazi Farms Group. It officially began broadcasts on 18 November 2015, and within two weeks became the most watched television channel in Bangladesh. Its programming mostly consist of entertainment with emphasis on daily drama series. Deepto also broadcasts foreign programming, mainly Turkish drama series. SA TV ( bn, এসএটিভি), the acronym of the lesser known South Asian Television, is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel based in Gulshan, Dhaka. It is owned by the SA Group, one of Bangladesh's largest transportation and real estate groups. SA TV commenced transmissions on 19 January 2013, and is based in Gulshan, Dhaka. History SA TV received its broadcasting license from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission in April 2010. It commenced test transmissions on 20 April 2012, and later began official transmissions on 19 January 2013. Asian TV
Asian TV ( bn, এশিয়ান টিভি) is a Bangladeshi Bengali language satellite and cable television channel owned by the Asian Group of Industries. It began broadcasts on 18 January 2013, with the "Your Channel" slogan. It broadcasts a selection of general entertainment programming. History Asian TV was formed by businessman Harun-ur-Rashid, as part of his Asian Group of Industries, which also includes Asian Radio, Asian Textile, Asian Fabrics, and Asian Yarn Dyeing. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission granted the channel a license to broadcast in June 2011. Bijoy TV ( bn, বিজয় টিভি; , in reference to Victory Day) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language privately owned satellite and cable television channel based in Banglamotor, Dhaka. This channel was established by former mayor of Chittagong A. B. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Current Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury is one of the shareholders and is the former managing director of Bijoy TV. History The channel originally began broadcasting illegally in the mid-2000s, but was later shut down in 2007 after order from the government. Later, in 2009, mayor of Chittagong A. B. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury announced the relaunch of Bijoy TV. GTV, also known as Gazi Television (), is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Gazi Group Commencing broadcasts on 12 June 2012, it is based in Segun Bagicha in Dhaka. Channel 9 ( bn, চ্যানেল নাইন) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Virgo Media Limited. Based in the Panthapath neighborhood of Dhaka, the channel began broadcasting on 30 January 2012. The channel airs sports and entertainment programming, and formerly aired news until the closure of its news division in 2019. It had the rights to broadcast the Bangladesh Premier League and La Liga.
