Telefacts
Telefacts is a Belgium, Belgian current affairs programme that has been broadcast weekly on the Belgian television channel VTM (TV channel), VTM since 1 February 1990. It shows documentaries about a wide variety of issues, most of them being widely known recent events. The programme is made in collaboration with VTM Nieuws and sometimes gives in-depth analysis to certain current events. Reports purchased from foreign broadcasters are sometimes broadcast as part of Telefacts; between 2010 and 2015 a spin-off programme dedicated to these reports was broadcast, allowing the main programme to focus on domestically produced content. The name Telefacts is a play on words, referring to the fax, telefax, which was still a widely used means of communication when the programme began in 1990, and the programme's factual subject matter (''facts''), broadcast on television (''tele''). VTM (TV Channel)
VTM or Vlaamse Televisie Maatschappij (English: ''Flemish Television Company'') is the main commercial television station in Flanders (the Dutch-speaking northern region of Belgium) and forms part of a network of channels owned by DPG Media (formerly Medialaan). It was launched on February 1, 1989 as the second commercial television channel in Belgium after the French-speaking RTL-TVI, and quickly became the most popular TV channel in the Flemish part of Belgium. Early programming consisted of local versions of game shows like 'Rad Van Fortuin' (Wheel of Fortune) or 'Waagstuk!' (Jeopardy!). The channel is also considered to have been instrumental in the rebirth of the local music industry as it was the first TV channel to promote local music through its primetime TV show 'Tien om te zien' (Ten to see), a weekly chart show with only local music productions. Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. The UK's BBC programmes such as '' This World'', '' Panorama'', ''Real Story'', ''BBC Scotland Investigates'', ''Spotlight'', '' Week In Week Out'', and '' Inside Out'' fit the definition. Vilvoorde
Vilvoorde (, french: Vilvorde ; historically known as ''Filford'' in English) is a Belgian municipality in the Flemish province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the city of Vilvoorde proper with its two outlying quarters of Koningslo and Houtem and the small town of Peutie. The nickname for inhabitants of Vilvoorde is Pjeirefretters (horse eaters) because horse meat (specially steak) is a beloved food in Vilvoorde. The official language of Vilvoorde is Dutch. There is a French-speaking minority of about 33.7%, concentrated especially in the Koningslo and Beauval quarter bordering Brussels. High-definition television (HD or HDTV) describes a television system which provides a substantially higher image resolution than the previous generation of technologies. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence.
