Taylor Johnson (tennis)
Taylor Johnson (born August 7, 2000) is an American tennis player. Johnson started playing tennis at the age of five in her home town of Phoenix, Arizona. She moved to California at the age of 11 continuing to play tennis. On August 13, 2017, Johnson and her partner Claire Liu won the 2017 USTA Girls’ 18s National Championship. This win led to Johnson being ranked 8th in the world. With this victory, the pair earned a wild card into the main draw of the women's doubles tournament at the 2017 US Open (tennis), 2017 US Open. Johnson graduated from Connections Academy, and committed to play tennis at the division one level at UCLA. In her four years at UCLA, she was very successful. She was named to the athletic directors honor roll all four years, named ITA scholar athlete 2019-20 school year, and was on the Pac-12 spring honor roll sophmore through senior year. The 2017 US Open was the 137th edition of tennis' US Open and the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year. It was held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Experimental rules featured in qualifying for the main draw as well as in the junior, wheelchair and exhibition events. Stan Wawrinka and Angelique Kerber were the previous year's men's and women's singles champions. Claire Liu
Claire Liu (born May 25, 2000) is an American tennis player. On 24th October 2022, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 60. In 2017, she was the world No. 1 in the junior rankings, after winning the Wimbledon girls' singles title, and finishing runner-up at the French Open. Liu also won a junior Grand Slam doubles title at Wimbledon with Usue Arconada in 2016. As a professional, Liu has won one singles title and one doubles title on the WTA Challenger Tour as well as six singles titles and one doubles title in tournaments of the ITF Women's Circuit. Casals earned her reputation as a rebel in the tennis world when she began competing in the early 1960s. During a tennis career that spanned more than two decades, she won more than 90 titles and was crucial to many of the changes in women's tennis during the 1960s and 1970s.
