Taylor Coutu
Taylor Leon Coutu (born March 10, 1987) is an American professional golfer currently playing on the LPGA Tour. She played under her maiden name, Taylor Leon, until her marriage in February 2012. Amateur career A native of Dallas, Texas, Leon was a two-time Rolex Junior Second-Team All-America, won two AJGA events, and represented the United States on the 2003 PING Junior Solheim Cup Team. She won the 2005 Pacific Northwest Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship and the 2006 Southern Amateur Championship. In 2006, she was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup team. Leon attended the University of Georgia for two years where she was a unanimous Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Year selection and was named First-Team All-SEC in 2006. 2006 Curtis Cup
The 34th Curtis Cup Match was played on July 29 and 30, 2006, at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort near Bandon, Oregon. The United States won 11 to 6 on the Pacific Dunes course. This was the last two-day Curtis Cup, which expanded to three days in 2008. Format The contest was a two-day competition, with three foursomes and six singles matches on each day, a total of 18 points. Each of the 18 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole extra holes were not played. Rather, each side earned a half point toward their team total. The team that accumulated at least 9 points won the competition. In the event of a tie, the current holder retained the Cup. Junior Solheim Cup
The Junior Solheim Cup is a version of the Solheim Cup for girls aged 12 to 18. It was inaugurated in 2002. It is currently officially called the PING Junior Solheim Cup. The Junior Solheim Cup follows a similar format to The Solheim Cup and features the top 12 U.S. amateur girls—defined as girls participating in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events—versus their European counterparts. College/university golfers are ineligible to participate in the event, even if they meet the age cutoff. The event is held over two days, with six fourball and six foursomes matches on the first day, and twelve singles matches on the second day. Each event has been held in the general vicinity of that year's Solheim Cup. The United States has won 7 of the 11 contests, with Europe winning 3, while the 2011 match ended in a tie. The Women's PGA Championship (branded as the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for sponsorship reasons) is a women's professional golf tournament. The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983.
