Tatxo Benet
Josep Maria Benet Ferran (born 14 June 1957), better known as Tatxo Benet, is a journalist and Spanish businessman. Biography He studied Law (University of Barcelona in Lleida) and Information Sciences (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), although he never graduate from either degree, combining his university studies with a budding career in journalism. Benet began his professional career in 1975 in ''El Diario de Lérida'' as a staff writer for local news and sports. In December 1976, he moved to Barcelona to participate in the launch of the newspaper Catalunya Express as a reporter for the Sports section. In June 1977 he returned to Lleida as a correspondent for the national daily El País and from November 1978, working as a delegate for El Periódico de Catalunya. Lleida
Lleida (, ; Spanish: Lérida ) is a city in the west of Catalonia, Spain. It is the capital city of the province of Lleida. Geographically, it is located in the Catalan Central Depression. Piss Christ
''Immersion (Piss Christ)'' is a 1987 photograph by the American artist and photographer Andres Serrano. It depicts a small plastic crucifix submerged in a small glass tank of the artist's urine. The piece was a winner of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art's "Awards in the Visual Arts" competition, which was sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, a United States Government agency that offers support and funding for artistic projects. The work generated much controversy based on assertions that it was blasphemous. Serrano said of the controversy: "I had no idea ''Piss Christ'' would get the attention it did, since I meant neither blasphemy nor offense by it. Amen Or The Pederasty
''Amen'', more commonly known as ''The Pederasty'' (“''La pederastia''” in Spanish), is a conceptual, critical and process artwork by Abel Azcona. Over a period of several months, Azcona attended Eucharists in churches and parishes that were linked to his own childhood. (Azcona had received a Catholic education from the age of seven following his adoption.) In the churches, the artist keeps the wafer or consecrated host given to the attendees of the communion. He gathered two hundred and forty-two wafers, which was the number of cases of pederasty reported in the north of Spain during the previous decade. With the wafers, he made a work in which the word ''Pederasty'' could be read. The work was first exhibited at a central Madrid art gallery in the summer of 2015. Santiago Sierra (born 1966) is a Spanish artist, known for performance art and installation art. Much of his work deals with the topic of social inequities. He lives in Madrid. Career Sierra's most well-known works involve hiring laborers to complete menial tasks. These works are meant to elucidate the nature of the laborer within Capitalist society, how the laborer sells his physical labor and thus his body, political issues such as immigration and continual immigrant poverty in Capitalist countries, the nature of work in Capitalist society, and the isolation of economic classes. Andres Serrano
Andres Serrano (born August 15, 1950) is an American photographer and artist. His work, often considered transgressive art, includes photos of corpses and uses feces and bodily fluids. His ''Piss Christ'' (1987) is a red-tinged photograph of a crucifix submerged in a glass container of what was purported to be the artist's own urine. He also created the artwork for the heavy metal band Metallica's '' Load'' and '' Reload'' albums. Early life Serrano was born in New York City on August 15, 1950. Ai Weiwei (, ; born 28 August 1957) is a Chinese contemporary artist, documentarian, and activist. Abel Azcona (born 1 April 1988) is a Spanish artist, specializing in performance art. His work includes installations, sculptures, and video art. He is known as the "'' enfant terrible''" of Spanish contemporary art. His first works dealt with personal identity, violence and the limits of pain; his later works are of a more critical, political and social nature.
