Taste You (Auf Der Maur Song)
"Taste You" is the third and final single from Auf der Maur's self-titled solo debut. Like the album's previous single, it failed to chart in the U.S. Due to a successful UK tour, the song received a moderate amount of airplay and peaked at number 51. The song features guest vocals from Mark Lanegan, formerly of the bands Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age. It exists in French and English versions. The French version is distributed standard on the album in some countries (France), and as a hidden track at the end of the US version of the album. Melissa Gaboriau Auf der Maur (; born March 17, 1972) is a Canadian musician. Auf der Maur began performing in 1993 after forming the indie rock band Tinker while she was a student at Concordia University. She was recruited as the bassist for the American alternative rock band Hole in the summer of 1994 and is included on several Hole releases, including the album ''Celebrity Skin'' (1998). Following her departure from Hole in 1999, Auf der Maur briefly joined The Smashing Pumpkins as a touring member for its 2000 tour and began her solo career; her debut studio album, ''Auf der Maur'', was released in 2004 on Capitol Records and her second studio album, '' Out of Our Minds'', was released in 2010 on her own independent record label, PHI–MAdM Music. "Real a Lie" (also known as "Real, a Lie") is the second single from Melissa Auf der Maur, Auf der Maur's self-titled Auf der Maur (album), solo debut. The song failed to chart in the United States, however, due to a successful tour of the United Kingdom, it fared slightly better than "Followed the Waves" there, peaking at #33. Background and production "Real a Lie" was one of the many songs written by Melissa Auf der Maur over a 12-year period from 1992 to 2004. Originally titled "Realalie", the song was first performed by her original band, Tinker (band), Tinker, which also included co-writer Steve Durand, and was released as the band's second single in 1994, which was backed with the b-side "Saxon Princess." This Would Be Paradise
''...This Would Be Paradise'' is the debut EP by the Canadian alternative rock musician Melissa Auf der Maur, released on November 11, 2008 on Urbinated Music. It was Auf der Maur's first independent release following her departure from Capitol Records in 2006. Two of the three songs featured on the EP—"The Key" and "This Would Be Paradise"— were later released on Auf der Maur's second studio album, ''Out of Our Minds'' (2010). The EP's second track "Willing Enabler" was an EP-only track. The EP was recorded during the sessions ''Out of Our Minds'' during 2007 and 2008 and produced by Auf der Maur, Jordon Zadorozny and Chris Goss. Mark Lanegan
Mark William Lanegan (November 25, 1964 – February 22, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter, and poet. First becoming prominent as the lead singer for the early grunge band Screaming Trees, he was also known as a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. He released 12 solo studio albums, as well as three collaboration albums with Isobel Campbell and two with Duke Garwood. He was known for his baritone voice, which was described as being "as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather" and has been compared to Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave. Screaming Trees
Screaming Trees was an American rock band formed in Ellensburg, Washington, in 1984 by vocalist Mark Lanegan, guitarist Gary Lee Conner, bass player Van Conner, and drummer Mark Pickerel. Pickerel had been replaced by Barrett Martin by the time the band reached its most successful period. Although widely associated with grunge, the band's sound incorporated hard rock and psychedelic elements. The band released seven studio albums, five EPs, and three compilations.
