Task Force Helmand
Task Force Helmand was the name given to a military unit of the International Security Assistance Force in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Task Force Helmand was part of Regional Command Southwest and consisted primarily of personnel from the British Armed Forces, as well as contribution from NATO allies Denmark and Estonia. It was established in April 2006, which coincided with the deployment of Operation Herrick 4. During August 2013 the Headquarters of Task Force Helmand moved from MOB Lashkar Gah to Camp Bastion. On 1 April 2014 the command was disbanded and its responsibilities were turned over to Regional Command Southwest. Regional Command Southwest
Regional Command Southwest, abbreviated RC(SW), was an international military formation, of roughly division size, which was one of the components of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. It was stood up on 3 July 2010 largely from an area previously in Regional Command South. It was headquartered at Camp Leatherneck with an area of responsibility of largely Helmand and Nimruz provinces. The United States Marine Corps provides the majority of the force headquarters. It consisted of Task Force Helmand of the British Armed Forces (including Denmark and Estonia) and Task Force Leatherneck of the United States Marine Corps. Andrew Mackay (British Army Officer)
Major General Andrew Douglas Mackay, CBE is a former British Army officer who commanded British forces in Helmand, Afghanistan. This was the principal opium-growing region and Britain was responsible in the NATO International Security Assistance Force for the suppression of opium. Military career Mackay served in the Royal Hong Kong Police for three years before he was commissioned into the King's Own Scottish Borderers in 1982. He served in Northern Ireland as a company commander and worked on the strategic and operational planning in the Balkans during the Bosnian War and Kosovo War. James Woodham
Brigadier James Medley Woodham, is a retired senior officer of the British Army. Military career Woodham was commissioned into the Royal Anglian Regiment on 9 August 1986. He was awarded the Military Cross (MC) for services in Iraq in 2005. Major General Rupert Timothy Herbert Jones, (born 29 April 1969) is a retired senior British Army officer, who served as the Standing Joint Force Commander from November 2018 to July 2021. Bob Bruce (British Army Officer)
Major-General Robert Bernard Bruce is a former British Army officer. Military career Bruce was commissioned into the Royal Scots on 5 September 1986. He became commanding officer of the Royal Scots in February 2006 and then of The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, as the Royal Scots and King's Own Scottish Borderers merged that year.
