Taromeo Homestead
Taromeo Station is a pastoral farm off the D'Aguilar Highway, Benarkin, South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1842 to the 1860s. The historical Taromeo Homestead complex encompassing the stone house, butchers shop, red-cedar horse stables, and cemetery were added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Taromeo Station was one of the original pastoral properties in the area and was taken up soon after land in Queensland became available for free settlement in 1842. The district was first divided into three huge runs, Taromeo, Tarong and Nanango, although Taromeo is thought to be the earliest of these by some months. By 1841 would-be squatters were moving into southeast Queensland, settling first on the Darling Downs. D'Aguilar Highway
The D'Aguilar Highway is a two-lane highway linking the Bruce Highway near Caboolture with Kingaroy in the state of Queensland, Australia. Major towns along the route include Woodford, Kilcoy, Blackbutt, Yarraman, Nanango and Kingaroy. The highway is approximately in length. The D'Aguilar Highway's highest elevation along its length is 527m just north of Yarraman, and the lowest point is at 26.8m just west of Caboolture. Castlereagh is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Blackbutt is a rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Blackbutt had a population of 836 people. Geography The town is located on the D'Aguilar Highway, in the South Burnett local government area, north-west of the state capital, Brisbane. Cobb & Co was the name used by many successful sometimes quite independent Australian coaching businesses. The first was established in 1853 by American Freeman Cobb and his partners. The name Cobb & Co grew to great prominence in the late 19th century, when it was carried by many stagecoaches carrying passengers and mail to various Australian goldfields, and later to many regional and remote areas of the Australian outback. The same name was used in New Zealand and Freeman Cobb used it in South Africa. Although the Queensland branch of the company made an effort to transition to automobiles in the early 20th century, high overhead costs and the growth of alternative transport options for mail, including rail and air, saw the final demise of Cobb & Co. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Walter Scott (1844 – 7 October 1890) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. To the people of Bundaberg, he was known as "Honest George". Biography Scott was born at Castlereagh River, New South Wales, the son of Simon Scott and his wife Christina (née Swanson). After his arrival in Queensland he was a station proprietor and manager.
