Tarmo Manni
Tarmo Manni (30 July 1921, in Saarijärvi – 24 September 1999, in Helsinki) was a Finnish actor. He worked for the Finnish National Theatre 41 years of his 44-year career and appeared in 65 films between 1944 and 2000. Manni was known as a flamboyant persona, on and off stage. However, in his final theatre performance, he just sat in a chair for an hour, listening to Gustav Mahler's First Symphony. Saarijärvi () is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Central Finland region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. Finnish National Theatre
The Finnish National Theatre ( fi, Suomen Kansallisteatteri), established in 1872, is a theatre located in central Helsinki on the northern side of the Helsinki Central Railway Station Square. The Finnish National Theatre is the oldest Finnish speaking professional theatre in Finland. It was known as the Finnish Theatre until 1902, when it was renamed the Finnish National Theatre. Gustav Mahler
Gustav Mahler (; 7 July 1860 – 18 May 1911) was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his generation. A symphony is an extended musical composition in Western classical music, most often for orchestra. Ihmiset Suviyössä (film)
''Ihmiset suviyössä'' (''People in the Summer Night'') is a Finnish film from 1948. Directed by Valentin Vaala, it is based on Frans Eemil Sillanpää's 1934 novel of the same title. Plot The film concentrates on the destinies of a small group of people during one summer night. All events in the film are told from two different perspectives. During the night people are falling in love, fighting drunk, dying, and being born. Nature is just as important a part of the movie as the actors are. The novelist Sillanpää himself had told Vaala to keep in mind that there should be only one main character, and that is the summer night. Reception ''Ihmiset suviyössä'' received mostly positive reviews from Finnish critics.
