Tariq Yunus
Tariq Yunus (16 October 1946 – 26 August 1994) was an Indian actor known for his role as chef Alaudin in television sitcom ''Tandoori Nights''. Biography As a young man (his brother being the politician Kunwar Khalid Yunus), Yunus gained his first acting part in a children's play for local radio and began to work regularly for this media. He joined a theatrical group run by the Arts Council while at college studying Geology. Two months before he was due to take his Geology Degree exams in 1962, Yunus headed to Britain in the hope of making his fortune. ''Terry and June'' is a BBC television sitcom, which was broadcast on BBC1 from 1979 to 1987. The show was largely a reworking of '' Happy Ever After'', and starred Terry Scott and June Whitfield as a middle-aged, middle-class suburban couple, Terry and June Medford, who live in Purley. Most of the 65 episodes were written by John Kane, with seven other writers also contributing some episodes. ''East of Elephant Rock'' is a 1977 British independent drama film directed by Don Boyd and starring John Hurt, Jeremy Kemp and Judi Bowker. It was Boyd's second feature film following his little-noticed 1975 '' Intimate Reflections''. Like William Somerset Maugham's 1927 play '' The Letter'' and two subsequent film adaptations, its narrative content depended on the 1911 Ethel Proudlock murder in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which became a ''cause célèbre'' scandalising British colonial society and which had been featured in a ''Sunday Observer'' article as recently as the year before. ''News at Twelve'' is a 1988 British television comedy for children, written by Cliff Francis and Jeremy Sinclair under the pseudonym of Francis Sinclair. The series followed 12-year-old Kevin Doyle (Ewan Phillips) and his nightly "news bulletins" about the events in his life (and some events from his imagination). The name of the TV series came from Kevin's age rather than the time the show itself aired, or of Kevin's news updates, which commonly featured his comical basset hound Baxter.
