Tariq Kirksay
Tariq Kinte Kirksay (born September 7, 1979) is a French American professional basketball player for Fos Provence Basket of the French LNB Pro A. He was born in the Bronx, New York, where he grew up. High school Kirksay played basketball at Rice High School, in New York City, New York. College Kirksay played college basketball at Iona College, with the Iona Gaels, from 1996 to 2000. He was a two-time All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) First Team selection, in the years 1999 and 2000. Professional career Kirksay won the Russian Cup with UNICS Kazan in 2009. He was named to the European-wide 2nd-tier level EuroCup's All-EuroCup First Team of the 2010–11 season. In 2017 he signs for the Spanish team Iberostar Tenerife, winning the Basketball Champions League Final Four. Club Joventut Badalona, S.A.D. () is a Spanish professional basketball club based in Badalona, Catalonia, Spain, playing in the Liga ACB and the EuroCup. Known to their fans as ''La Penya'' (in English, ''The Club''), it is one of only two teams that have never been relegated from the top division of the Spanish League. The only other is Real Madrid. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the men's basketball player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) voted as the most outstanding player. The award was first presented following the 1981–82 season, the first MAAC season, through voting by the league's head coaches. The award was first given to William Brown of Saint Peter's in 1982 after Brown averaged 17.0 ppg, while leading the Peacocks to the NIT. Lionel Simmons of La Salle won the award a league record three times in his career. Simmons, along with winning his third MAAC Player of the Year award, was also the consensus National Player of the Year in 1990. The 2016–17 Basketball Champions League was the inaugural season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), a European professional basketball competition for clubs that was launched by FIBA. The competition began on 27 September 2016, with the qualifying rounds, and concluded on 30 April 2017, at the Final Four. A number of 52 teams from 31 countries participated in the competition, including its qualifying rounds. Iberostar Tenerife won the inaugural season of the BCL, after winning the final of the Final Four which was hosted in its home arena. The Basketball Champions League (BCL) is an annual professional basketball competition for European clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Fos Provence Basket, also known as Fos-sur-mer, is a professional basketball team based in Fos-sur-mer, France. The team currently plays in the first tier LNB Pro A, after its promotion in the 2020–21 season. Home games are played in the Complexe sportif Parsemain, which has a capacity of 2,000 people. History The club was founded on 13 January 1972 as Frat Fosséenne by its founders Paul Bruyère and Jean Lovato. On 18 January 2020, Fos received Saint-Quentin Basket-Ball at the Palais des Sports in Marseille and set its attendance record with 3,384 spectators. Club Cantera Base 1939 Canarias S.A.D., also known as Lenovo Tenerife for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team that is based in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.
