Tarald Weisteen
Tarald Weisteen (29 July 1916 – 26 December 2009) was a Norwegian military officer. He was born in Norderhov. In 1945 he married Anne Margrethe Rørholt, and was thus brother-in-law of Bjørn Rørholt. During World War II he served as a pilot at the No. 331 Squadron RAF, and was decorated with the British Distinguished Flying Cross with Bar and the Norwegian St. Olav's Medal With Oak Branch. He was promoted to colonel in 1963, retiring in 1981. Norderhov
Norderhov is a former municipality located within Ringerike in Buskerud county, Norway. Municipality Norderhov municipality was established on January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 7,234. On 22 April 1852 the city of Hønefoss was separated from Norderhov to constitute a separate administrative unit. In 1857 the rural district Ådal was separated from Norderhov, leaving Norderhov with a population of 6,846. In 1938 a part of Norderhov with 268 inhabitants was moved to Hønefoss, and on 1 January 1964 the rest was merged with Hønefoss, Ådal, Tyristrand and Hole to form the new municipality Ringerike. Norderhov was by far the largest municipality prior to the merger, with a population of 15,143. Bjørn Rørholt
Bjørn Arnold Rørholt (27 August 1919 – 3 May 1993) was a Norwegian engineer, military officer, Secret Intelligence Service agent and resistance member during World War II. Early life Rørholt was born in Aker as the son of military officer Arnold Rørholt (1884–1961) and his wife Luise Fredrikke Lund (1891–1965). He was a first cousin of Vera Henriksen and a great-grandson of Friedrich Roscher. Rørholt finished his secondary education in 1937, and enrolled at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1939. After a short time, he was drafted for compulsory military service. Not long after, when the Norwegian Military Academy opened for an extra influx of recruits, Rørholt enrolled there. Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom)
The Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) is the third-level military decoration awarded to officers, and since 1993 to other ranks, of the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force and other services, and formerly to officers of other Commonwealth countries, for "an act or acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations against the enemy". ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. Cato Guhnfeldt
Cato Guhnfeldt (born 18 May 1951) is a Norwegian journalist in ''Aftenposten'' and non-fiction writer of Second World War history. He lives in Bærum. Gunfeldt has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oslo, where he majored in political science and history. Since 1980 he has worked as a journalist in ''Aftenposten''. His first book was ''Sagaen om de norske Northrop-flyene på Island'', published in 1981, about the No. 330 Squadron RNoAF while it was stationed in Iceland during the Second World War. He followed up with ''Fornebu 9. april'' in 1990, about the Operation Weserübung, German invasion of Oslo Airport, Fornebu on 9 April 1940. For this and later books he established his own publishing company, Wings Forlag. Guhnfeldt's third book was ''Bomb Gestapo-hovedkvarteret!'' about the Oslo Mosquito raid on 25 September 1942.
