Meschac Gaba (born 1961) is a Beninese conceptual artist based in Rotterdam and Cotonou. His installations of everyday objects whimsically juxtapose African and Western cultural identities and commerce. He is best known for ''The Museum of Contemporary African Art 1997–2002'', an autobiographical 12-room installation acquired and displayed by the Tate Modern in 2013. He has also exhibited at the Studio Museum in Harlem and at the 2003 Venice Biennale. Early life and career Meschac Gaba was born in Cotonou, Benin, in 1961. Lisa Oppenheim (born 1975) is an American multimedia artist. Education Lisa Oppenheim was born in New York City in the year of 1975. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1998, concentrating in Modern Culture and Media, Art and Semiotics. In 2001, she earned her MFA in Film and Video from Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. She completed a Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in 2003. Karyn Olivier (born 1968) is a Philadelphia-based artist who creates public art, sculptures, installations and photography. Olivier alters familiar objects, spaces, and locations, often reinterpreting the role of monuments. Her work intersects histories and memories with present-day narratives. Early life and education Olivier was born in 1968 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, where she and her twin sister lived with their family before they moved to Brooklyn, New York, in early childhood. Ernesto Saboia de Albuquerque Neto (born 1964, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a contemporary visual artist. Early career Ernesto Neto began exhibiting in Scotland in 1988 and has had solo exhibitions abroad since 1995. Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson (; born 23 April 1975) is an Icelandic musician; he is the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist for the Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós. He is known for his use of a cello bow on guitar and his "angelic" falsetto or countertenor voice. He is blind in his right eye from birth as a result of a broken optic nerve from the brain.
