Tanssitauti
''Tanssitauti'' is an EP by CMX released in 1990. The band had released their debut album '' Kolmikärki'' earlier the same year with a different lineup. ''Tanssitauti'' is the first CMX recording to feature guitarist Janne Halmkrona, who appears on all of the band's albums from this point on. CMX (band)
CMX, originally Cloaca Maxima, is a Finnish rock band. They originally played hardcore punk, but soon expanded to play a wide variety of rock formats, including progressive rock, heavy metal, and mainstream rock 'n' roll. Throughout their career, they have been influenced by progressive rock bands such as Rush, Yes, Tool and King Crimson. The progressive influence is most evident on their albums ''Dinosaurus Stereophonicus'' (2000) and ''Talvikuningas'' (2007). CMX have gradually gained large-scale mainstream following in Finland. They are especially known for the poetic lyrics of A. W. Yrjänä that often contain references to mythology and religion. Finnish rock magazines, particularly ''Rumba'', have named them Best Band of the Year multiple times, and even Best Band of All Time on one occasion. Cloaca Maxima (album)
''Cloaca Maxima'' (1997) is the first compilation album by the Finnish rock group CMX. The name '' Cloaca Maxima'' means "Great Sewer" in Latin, and was also an early name of the band before it was shortened to CMX. The compilation contains three CDs named ''Physis'', ''Aetheris'' and ''Astralis'' respectively. ''Physis'', contains rock songs from their albums and EPs, while ''Aetheris'' focuses on softer material. The discography of CMX starts in 1985 and continues to this day. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Punk rock in California, Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant History of the hippie movement, hippie cultural climate of the time. It was also inspired by Washington D.C. and New York City, New York punk rock and early proto-punk. Bad Vugum
Bad Vugum is an independent record label originally based in Oulu, Finland. It was founded in 1987 by some of the members of the hardcore punk groups Kansanturvamusiikkikomissio and Radiopuhelimet for releasing the latter's music. The label's name comes from an epithet invented by Captain Beefheart, heard uttered during his song "Sue Egypt". By the early 1990s it had grown into one of Finland's relatively higher-profile indie labels, with releases frequently getting positive reviews in American music fanzines such as Forced Exposure and Flipside. Many releases were also championed by the BBC radio DJ John Peel, who went on to invite such Bad Vugum bands as Deep Turtle, Circle and Aavikko to record Peel Sessions for his radio show as the first ever Finnish acts to do so. John Peel also invited Mieskuoro Huutajat to perform at the Meltdown Festival when he curated it in 1998. Kolmikärki
''Kolmikärki'' (''Trident'') is CMX's 1990 debut album. Despite CMX's roots in punk, the musical style of the album varies greatly. The record meshes hardcore, heavy metal, acid rock, some jazz, ballads and waltz. A. W. Yrjänä's lyrics on the album contain a lot of religious imagery for which the band is still known. The lyrics have been influenced by a variety of religions, including Buddhism and Christianity, as well as drawing influence from shamanism. CMX's music has changed significantly since this early album, but their enthusiasm for experimenting with different musical styles has lived on. The CD version of ''Kolmikärki'' released by Bad Vugum also contains the ''Raivo'' EP originally released in 1989. Janne Halmkrona
Janne Halmkrona (born 29 April 1968) is a Finnish musician. He is best known for playing in CMX, a band he joined in 1990, replacing Kimmo Suomalainen. He has also released two albums with Sapattivuosi, a Black Sabbath tribute band. Halmkrona also worked as an A&R manager for Sony BMG Finland. Halmkrona holds a master's degree in musicology. His playing has been influenced by bands such as the Sex Pistols, Judas Priest, Yes and Genesis. In addition to his guitar playing, he has also done radio work for Radio Helsinki, hosting a weekly show "Sabotaasi" and "Heviurpot", where he and Lasse Kurki played 1980s hard rock classics. Halmkrona has co-produced two CMX albums, '' Veljeskunta'' (1991) and '' Aion'' (2003), as well as ''Sodankylä'' (2004) by Maj Karma. Finnish Language
Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Huntington's Disease
Huntington's disease (HD), also known as Huntington's chorea, is a neurodegenerative disease that is mostly inherited. The earliest symptoms are often subtle problems with mood or mental abilities. A general lack of coordination and an unsteady gait often follow. It is also a basal ganglia disease causing a hyperkinetic movement disorder known as chorea. As the disease advances, uncoordinated, involuntary body movements of chorea become more apparent. Physical abilities gradually worsen until coordinated movement becomes difficult and the person is unable to talk. Mental abilities generally decline into dementia.
