Emperor (band)
Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991, regarded as highly influential by critics and emerging black metal bands. The group split up in 2001, but reunited from 2005 to 2007 for a few festival dates and brief US tours, and again reunited in 2013 to 2014. Emperor reformed for the third time in 2016. Isengard (band)
Isengard is a solo project of Fenriz, the drummer of Darkthrone, created in 1989. It is rooted on Norwegian black/Viking metal and experimental rock on some tracks, and named after the large fortress Isengard in J. R. R. Tolkien's ''The Lord of the Rings'' book series. History The person/creature in Isengard's logo was taken from an old ''Lord of the Rings'' RPG called Middle-earth Role Playing. The original illustration represents Thuringwethil, the vampire from Tolkien's book ''The Silmarillion''. Fenriz created Isengard because he had many musical ideas that did not fit in with the style and music of Darkthrone. Fenriz performed all instruments and vocals himself. ''Vinterskugge'' is a compilation of three demos recorded before the full-length album ''Høstmørke'' was recorded. When asked how he felt about Isengard in a November 2007 interview, Fenriz commented that he does not "understand why people like it so much". He stated that people like "the elements" which he doe ...

For this album Vikernes was allowed to have the keyboard and recording device for only one week. The first pressing of its vinyl format release was pressed on a shiny burnished color reminiscent of gold. Track listing Credits *Varg Vikernes – synthesizers, audio engineering, songwriting *Pytten – mastering Artwork *Tania Stene – cover art *Stephen O'Malley – design/additional art The additional art in the booklet is taken mainly from silent films. Nattens Madrigal
''Nattens Madrigal – Aatte Hymne Til Ulven I Manden'' (translated as ''"Madrigal of the Night – Eight Hymns to the Wolf in Man"'') is the third studio album by Norwegian band Ulver, issued on 3 March 1997 via Century Media. Composed and arranged during the first half of 1995, ''Nattens'' is a concept album about wolves, the night, the moon, and the dark side of mankind. Background The third and final album in what has become known as Ulver's “'' Black Metal Trilogie'',” ''Nattens madrigal'' marked the band's international debut and showcases an abrasive black metal style similar to the darker, heavier tracks on '' Bergtatt'', abandoning acoustic and atmospheric elements with an intentionally underproduced sound. The album has been described as “raw and grim black metal at its blackest.” An urban legend regarding the album is that band spent the recording budget on Armani suits, cocaine and a Corvette and recorded the album outdoors in a Norwegian forest on an 8-t ...

Satyricon (band)
Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Since its fourth album in 1999, the band has strayed from this style and included elements of traditional heavy metal in their sound. Satyricon was the first Norwegian black metal band to join a multi-national record label (EMI). History The band were formed in 1990 as EczemaPowaviolenza: by the bassist Wargod and drummer Exhurtum. In 1991, they decided to start playing black metal and change the band name to Satyricon. Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven) then joined the band. After the first demo ''All Evil'', Exhurtum was kicked out of the band because he "preferred hanging out with my girl at the time rather than kicking down gravestones together with the band", while Wargod left the music scene and became a UN soldier afterwards. Remaining members Satyr and Lemarchand hired the drummer ...
