Tan Jee Say
Tan Jee Say (; born 12 February 1954) is a Singaporean politician and former civil servant who stood for the 2011 presidential election. He also founded the defunct political party, Singaporeans First. Education Tan graduated from University College, Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) under the Government Overseas Merit Scholarship. Career Tan had worked in the Civil Service for 11 years, including six years in the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) from 1979 to 1985, before leaving as Deputy Director for Economic and Manpower Planning. During that period, he served as the secretary to Albert Winsemius, the government's economic adviser, concurrently. Singaporeans First (SingFirst) was a political party in Singapore founded on 25 May 2014 but was dissolved on 25 June 2020. History and political development Formation and contests In 2011, Tan Jee Say, a former civil servant, was known for his contests in both the general and presidential elections held that year, despite being endorsed by the opposition parties while defeated on both occasions. Tan stood under the SDP banner under the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC (led by Vivian Balakrishnan), where the team attained their party's best result for the election. After the party was founded, Tan used a stylised adaptation of the simple heart logo, a similar logo when Tan campaigned during his presidential election. Ang Yong Guan
Ang Yong Guan (; born 24 January 1955) is a Singaporean politician, psychiatrist and former colonel. He is the Progress Singapore Party Head of Training and Development since 2020. Early life Ang graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1979 and had his postgraduate training in psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh between 1984 and 1986. Political career Ang joined the Singapore Democratic Party as a candidate and contested in a four-member Holland–Bukit Timah GRC at the 2011 general election and was defeated by People's Action Party where his team obtained 39.92% of valid votes. Vincent Wijeysingha
Dr. Vincent Wijeysingha (born 2 May 1970) is an academic, civil activist and politician from Singapore. He was a member of the opposition Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) 2010 to 2013. He served as the party's Treasurer and stood as a parliamentary candidate for the party 2011 general election. He was Singapore's first openly gay politician. Early life and education Wijeysingha's father is Eugene Wijeysingha, who is a former principal of Temasek Junior College (1980-1985) and Raffles Institution (1986-1994).
