Tamale Airport
Tamale Airport is an airport serving Tamale, a town in the Northern Region of Ghana. It is the third busiest airport in Ghana, with 207,216 passengers in 2021. History Upgrade to international status The Tamale Airport was temporarily upgraded to the status of an international airport, with all the necessary facilities. It gained international status in December 2008. The facilities put in place include a runway, taxiways, aprons, terminal, modified fire service building, rehabilitation of the tower building, a car park and a VVIP lounge. Others are the provision of offices for the Customs, Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS) and the Immigration Services. Tamale Stadium
The Tamale Sports Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Tamale, Ghana, mostly used for football matches as well as a place for hosting events and serves as the home stadium of Real Tamale United, Tamale City FC and Steadfast FC. The stadium which hosted some matches during the 2008 African Cup of Nations has a capacity of about 20,000 and it was completed in 2008 by the Shanghai Construction Group of China. The stadium looks similar to the Sekondi-Takoradi Stadium. Gold Coast (British Colony)
The Gold Coast was a British Crown colony on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa from 1821 until its independence in 1957 as Ghana. The British Aerospace 146 (also BAe 146) is a short-haul and regional airliner that was manufactured in the United Kingdom by British Aerospace, later part of BAE Systems. Production ran from 1983 until 2001. Manufacture by Avro International Aerospace of an improved version known as the Avro RJ began in 1992. A further-improved version with new engines, the Avro RJX, was announced in 1997, but only two prototypes and one production aircraft were built before production ceased in 2001. Aero Surveys Limited, which traded as Starbow, was a privately owned airline in Ghana that operated from 2012 till 2017. It operated scheduled services beginning in 2012, but suspended all operations following an accident involving one of its ATR 72-500s in November 2017. Antrak Air was a Ghanaian scheduled airline based in the Airport Residential Area of Accra, Ghana. It started operations in September 2003 and operated scheduled domestic, regional and international services, as well as charter services in West Africa. Its main base was at Kotoka International Airport, Accra. The company suspended all operations in May 2012 following a fire on board its only aircraft. Kotoka International Airport
Kotoka International Airport is an international airport in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The airport is operated by Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), which has its offices on the airport property. It is the sole international airport in Ghana. In 2019, the airport served a record 3 million passengers, although this reduced to 2.1 million in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It presently serves as a hub for domestic and regional operator Africa World Airlines, and a base for domestic operator Passion Air. The airport consists of two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 serves only domestic flights, while Terminal 3 serves regional, international and long-haul operators.
