Lamar County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 55,658. Its county seat is Purvis. Area codes 601 and 769 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for central and southern Mississippi, excluding the three counties of the Gulf Coast.
