Talons (band)
Talons are a 6-piece instrumental band from Hereford. They formed in 2008, having previously played together in bands belonging to the Hereford music scene. Career Talons formed in 2008 as a reincarnation of an older band, Kites, with an altered line up. They signed to Big Scary Monsters in 2009, releasing their debut single, "The Pearl" in late summer. Once the band began to tour heavily, they released three singles in the buildup to a full-length record. An anthology of all Talons' work prior to Hollow Realm was released, entitled Commemorations. The band recorded their debut album, ''Hollow Realm'' in the summer of 2010, with Tom Woodhead ( Forward Russia) at the helm as producer. It was released in November 2010, the CD released by Big Scary Monsters and 12" vinyl by Topshelf Records. It received critical acclaim, notably by Mike Diver for BBC Music and Drowned In Sound. Hereford
Hereford () is a cathedral city, civil parish and the county town of Herefordshire, England. It lies on the River Wye, approximately east of the border with Wales, south-west of Worcester and north-west of Gloucester. With a population of 53,112 in 2021 it is by far the largest settlement in Herefordshire. An early town charter from 1189, granted by Richard I of England, describes it as "Hereford in Wales". Holy Roar Records
Holy Roar Records was an independent record label run by Alex Fitzpatrick. The label began in January 2006 and put out its first release in June 2006, the Phoenix Bodies album, ''Raise the Bullshit flag''. Fitzpatrick originally joked that the name was derived from a vision he had whilst on the hallucinogen LSD. According to Fitzpatrick, the name “Holy Roar” was derived from a Torche song with the same title. History Holy Roar Records was formed at the beginning of 2006, when Alex Fitzpatrick moved to London. After previously trialling out “thecommunion” with friends in Birmingham during his university days, he and his girlfriend at the time, Ellen Godwin decided to start up a record label. Drowned In Sound
''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. BBC Music

¡Forward, Russia! are an English rock band from Leeds, active from between 2004 and 2008, before reforming in 2013. The band's debut album, ''Give Me a Wall'', was released in 2006. Until 2006, the band only named tracks with numbers, in the order that they were written. The band had used Faux Cyrillic, with its name occasionally typeset as ¡FФЯWДЯD, RUSSIД!. The band went on hiatus after the release of their second album, ''Life Processes'', in 2008.
