Lincoln, Alabama
Lincoln is a city in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. It was incorporated in 1911. At the 2020 census, the population was 6,845. It was named for Major General Benjamin Lincoln, who served in the American army during the Revolutionary War. The Talladega Superspeedway, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Talladega Municipal Airport are all located in Lincoln. Geography Lincoln is located at (33.593156, -86.138879). Talladega Springs, Alabama
Talladega Springs is a town in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 144. History Also known as Sulphur Springs the town became known as Talladega Springs in 1845 and was incorporated as such in 1913. The town was a resort where people came to drink the water which was rich in sulfur and believed to have medicinal properties. At one time the town had a hotel with a swimming pool, a bank, pharmacy, post office, town jail with two cells, a grist mill, a sawmill, and a Coca-Cola bottling plant. Trains brought travelers to the town several times daily. Tourism dwindled in the early 1900s and the town with it. Today there is little evidence of what Talladega Springs used to be. Munford, Alabama
Munford is a town in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 1,351. It is the location of what has been called the last battle of the Civil War east of the Mississippi, the Battle of Munford on April 23, 1865, being one week after the Battle of Columbus (April 16, 1865) in Georgia. The battle was responsible for the last Confederate death east of the Mississippi River, whose name was Andrew Jackson Buttram. History Munford was initially incorporated in 1873. At some point in the 1880s, it either disincorporated or lost its charter. In 2000, Munford was classified as a census-designated place (CDP), and in 2002 formally incorporated again.
