Takhti Stadium (Tehran)
Takhti Tehran () is a multi-purpose stadium, located in Eastern Tehran, Iran. It is used mostly for football matches. The stadium is able to hold 30,122 people and was opened in 1973. Recently, Takhti Stadium has been brought back to life. It has been given a new grass field and seats. Takhti Stadium is home venue of Saipa F.C. Takhti Stadium is the first covered stadium in Iran. It is named after Gholamreza Takhti. History Takhti Stadium is the fifth big stadium that was built in East Tehran. This stadium was built to use for 1974 Asian Games and is part of Takhti Sport Complex. The stadium's building progress was started in June 1968 and Iranian-Italian architect, Jahangir Darvish was responsible for the project. Tehran
Tehran (; fa, تهران ) is the largest city in Tehran Province and the capital of Iran. With a population of around 9 million in the city and around 16 million in the larger metropolitan area of Greater Tehran, Tehran is the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia, and has the second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East, after Cairo. It is ranked 24th in the world by metropolitan area population. Azadi Sport Complex
The Āzādi Sport Complex ( fa, مجموعه ورزشی آزادی) formerly known as Āryāmehr Sports Complex ( fa, مجموعه ورزشی آریامهر) is the national sports complex of Iran based in Tehran. It is the biggest sports complex in Iran. The massive Azadi Stadium is located within the walls of this complex. It was designed by Abdol-Aziz Mirza Farmanfarmaian along with the San Francisco office of Skidmore,_Owings_&_Merrill, Skidmore, Owings & Merill, and constructed by Iran's Arme Construction Company. 2014–15 Hazfi Cup
The 2014–15 Hazfi Cup was the 28th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Tractor Sazi was the defending champion but was eliminated by Padideh in quarter-finals. The competition started on 1 September 2014 and ended on 1 June 2015. Zob Ahan won their third title after defeating Naft Tehran in the final. Participating teams Totally 102 teams participated in the 2014–15 season. These teams were divided into four main groups which are introduced here. Hazfi Cup
Hazfi Cup (Jām-e Hazfi; ) is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation. The Iranian football league was not held during the 1980s, hence the winner of Hazfi Cup represented Iran in the Asian Club Championship. After the revive of the league system, the champion of Iranian league qualified for Asian Club Championship and the winner of Hazfi Cup ran for Asian Cup Winners' Cup. However, the Asian Cup Winners' Cup merged with the Asian Champions Cup in 2002–03 to form the AFC Champions League and Iran had been initially given two (and later four) slots in this competitions. The IRIFF decided to award one of Iran's AFC Champions League spots to the winner of the Hazfi Cup, and since then, the winners of Hazfi Cup have always been allocated a spot in the AFC Champions League. 2010 Islamic Solidarity Games
The 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games were going to be an international sporting event scheduled to be held in Iran on 9–25 April 2010. The Games were cancelled following a dispute between the host country and Saudi Arabia. Suspension and cancellation of Games It was reported 3 May 2009, that Iran had suspended the games due to a dispute over the use of the term "Persian Gulf". Saudi Arabia and other Arabic countries disapproved of the use of the term "Persian Gulf" on literature and medals and insisted the fictitious term "Arabian Gulf" or just "Gulf" be used instead. Iran claimed it was still in talks to try to salvage the games. On 17 January 2010, the governing body of the ISG reported that the event had been cancelled due to the tension between Arab states and Iran over the name of the body of water. Farah Diba
Farah Pahlavi ( fa, فرح پهلوی, née Farah Diba ( fa, فرح دیبا, label=none); born 14 October 1938) is the widow of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and was successively Queen and Empress (''Shahbanu'') of Iran from 1959 to 1979. The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and commonly known as Munich 1972 (german: München 1972), was an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. The event was overshadowed by the Munich massacre in the second week, in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer at Olympic village were killed by Palestinian Black September members. The motivation for the attack was the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
