Take Me Home (TV Series)
''Take Me Home'' is a British television drama series that originally aired from 2–16 May 1989. The 3-part mini-series starred Keith Barron, Maggie O'Neill, Reece Dinsdale, and Annette Crosbie. It was created and written by Tony Marchant and was shown in three episodes on BBC One. The lead character, Kathy, was one of the first television roles for actress Maggie O'Neill. Kathy is a lonely young woman who moved to an extended Midlands town. The fictional industrial town is experiencing major transformation, including residential development, roads, and an advanced computer technology centre (relevant to the era of the broadcast). Kathy encounters a local taxi driver, Tom, who is driven by his passion for engineering and the infusion of technology in the town. Kathy and Tom begin to meet secretly, behind their respective partners' backs. Tony Marchant (playwright)
Tony Marchant (born 11 July 1959) is a British playwright and television dramatist. In 1982 he won the London Critics' Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright for ''The Lucky Ones'' and ''Raspberry''. In 1999 he won the British Academy Television Awards Dennis Potter Award for services to television. His television work includes the acclaimed ''Holding On (TV series), Holding On'' (1997), ''Never, Never'', starring John Simm and ''Take Me Home (TV series), Take Me Home''. Early life Marchant, whose father was a printer and mother a school dinner lady, was born and raised on a council estate in Wapping in the East End of London, which he has described as, "a very hard, heavy place to live sometimes." He has stated that while estates have changed since he grew up on one, the poverty is still the same and it hasn't gone away. Deacon Blue
Deacon Blue are a Scottish pop rock band formed in Glasgow during 1985. The line-up of the band consists of vocalists Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, keyboard player James Prime and drummer Dougie Vipond. The band released their debut album, '' Raintown'', on 1 May 1987 in the United Kingdom and in the United States in February 1988. Their second album, ''When the World Knows Your Name'' (1989), topped the UK Albums Chart for two weeks, and included "Real Gone Kid" which became their first top ten single in the UK Singles Chart and reached number one in Spain. Deacon Blue released their fourth album, ''Whatever You Say, Say Nothing'', in 1993. The band split in 1994, following which Vipond began a career in television. Keith Barron (8 August 1934 – 15 November 2017) was an English actor and television presenter who appeared in films and on television from 1961 until 2017.
