Takashi Ōtsuka
is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Osaka and graduate of Otemon Gakuin University, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2005 after an unsuccessful run in 2003. He is affiliated to the revisionist lobby Nippon Kaigi. On January 18, 2021, 10 days after the declaration of state emergency due to COVID-19, Ōtsuka was spotted violating lockdown rules by visiting a restaurant and two hostess bars at night. After an attempted cover-up, he was eventually lead to resign from his Diet post, but remained as a lawmaker. The Koizumi Children are loosely organized into a political association called . The term is a reference to then-prime minister Junichiro Koizumi, with whom the LDP success in the 2005 elections is closely associated. Some of the children were so-called 'assassins,' candidates hand-picked by Koizumi to defeat LDP party members who opposed his efforts at postal reform. ''JANJAN'' (), short for ''Japan Alternative News for Justices and New Cultures'' (), was a Japanese online newspaper started by Ken Takeuchi, journalist and former mayor of Kamakura, Kanagawa. Launched in February 2003, the newspaper is credited for pioneering citizen journalism in Japan. After registration, anyone was free to post comments on the JANJAN website. However, there were different windows for registering depending on the nationality or ethnicity of the potential poster (i.e. a different one for "Foreigners" (外国の方) and Japanese).
