The Taiwan Oil Field Exhibition Hall or Taiwan Petroleum Exhibition Hall () is a museum about oil in Gongguan Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan. History The museum was established in 1981 by CPC Corporation in the area where oil was first discovered in Taiwan. Architecture The museum is housed in a two-story building. It is the largest building within the village it is located. Exhibition The hall houses the exhibition pavilions on the development of petroleum industry in Taiwan, from literature recording excavation, drilling and natural gas work. Gongguan Township () is a rural Township (Taiwan), township near the center of Miaoli County, Taiwan. Its climate is sub-tropical, mild and very rainy. The yearly average humidity is 80%. Miaoli County
Miaoli County (Mandarin Pinyin: ''miáo lì xiàn''; Hakka PFS: ''Mèu-li̍t-yen''; Hokkien POJ: ''Biâu-le̍k-koān'' or ''Miâu-le̍k-koān'') is a county in western Taiwan. Miaoli is adjacent with Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City to the north, Taichung to the south, and borders the Taiwan Strait to the west. Miaoli is classified as a county in central Taiwan by the National Development Council, while the Taiwan Central Weather Bureau classifies Miaoli as a county in northern Taiwan. Miaoli City is the capital of the county, and is also known as "Mountain Town", owing to the number of mountains nearby, making it a destination for hiking. CPC Corporation () is a state-owned petroleum, natural gas, and gasoline company in Taiwan and is the core of the Taiwanese petrochemicals industry. History Early history CPC was founded on 1 June 1946 in Shanghai as Chinese Petroleum Corporation (中國石油) by the government of the Republic of China (ROC, then on Mainland China). Mining has been practiced in Taiwan for hundreds of years. Sulfur was an early important resource collected on the island.
