Taiwan Church News
The ''Taiwan Church News'' () is a publication of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan. It was first published in 1885 as the ''Tâi-oân-hú-siâⁿ Kàu-hōe-pò'' () under the direction of missionary Thomas Barclay, and was Taiwan's first printed newspaper. This early edition was also notable for being printed in romanised Taiwanese using the Pe̍h-ōe-jī orthography. The publication was banned during the latter stages of Japanese rule and editions were also impounded on several occasions during the martial law era in post-war Taiwan for discussing forbidden subjects. Christian Missionaries
A Christian mission is an organized effort for the propagation of the Christian faith. Missions involve sending individuals and groups across boundaries, most commonly geographical boundaries, to carry on evangelism or other activities, such as educational or hospital work. Sometimes individuals are sent and are called missionaries, and historically may have been based in mission stations. When groups are sent, they are often called mission teams and they do mission trips. There are a few different kinds of mission trips: short-term, long-term, relational and those that simply help people in need. Some people choose to dedicate their whole lives to mission. Missionaries preach the Christian faith (and sometimes to administer sacraments), and provide humanitarian aid. Allies

Tainan Prefecture (Qing Dynasty)
Tainan Prefecture () was a prefecture of Taiwan under Qing rule. The prefecture was established by the Qing dynasty government in 1887, when Fokien-Taiwan Province was established. The prefecture included the districts/counties of Anping, Kagi, Fengshan, and Hengchun, and the sub-prefecture of Penghu. The island was previously governed as Taiwan Prefecture, with its capital at ''Taiwan-fu'' in the south. With the reorganization beginning in 1885, ''Taiwan-fu'' was moved north to a new location in the center of the island, outside of the boundaries of the new Tainan Prefecture. Thus the southern city formerly called ''Taiwan-fu'' was renamed ''Tainan-fu''. This is the name origin of modern-day Tainan. William Campbell (missionary)
William Campbell () (1841–1921) was a Scottish Presbyterian missionary to Formosa (Qing Taiwan). He wrote extensively on topics related to Taiwan and was also responsible for founding the island's first school for the blind. Interested in the early history of the island (particularly the Dutch era), his knowledge of the time was such that he was called "without doubt the greatest authority on this subject living". He was probably the first European to see Sun-Moon Lake, which he named ''Lake Candidius'' in honour of the seventeenth century Dutch missionary George Candidius. Mission to Taiwan Campbell arrived in Qing-era Taiwan in 1871 to begin his mission in southern Taiwan, being stationed in Taiwan-fu, the capital of Taiwan Prefecture (modern-day Tainan) and serving both Han Chinese and Taiwanese aborigines in the area.
