Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum
The Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum () is a museum in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The museum building was originally part of the Beitun New Village, which was one of 134 military kindred villages in the city accommodating officers from the Republic of China Air Force rank major and above, including their families. Since the 2000s, there had been more and more families moving out from the area. The village was then renovated to preserve some of the iconic landmarks. One of the house was then turned into the Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum. The construction of the museum was completed in mid November 2014. Since August 2017, the museum has been run by Yuguo Cultural and Creative Company. Architecture The museum space spans over an area of 660 m2. Transportation The museum is accessible within walking distance southwest of Taiyuan Station of Taiwan Railways. Beitun District
Beitun District (; lit: northern camp) is a district in Taichung, Taiwan. Located in the northern part of the city, it is a half mountainous, half urban area. Though Beitun District used to be considered part of the countryside, the new Taiyuan Station has urbanized it considerably. The highest point of Taichung City is located in Beitun, Douliu Hill (859 m). Taiyuan () is an elevated railway station on the TRA Taichung line located in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. Taiyuan Station was rebuilt with an elevated platform in 2016. Military Dependents' Village
A military dependents' village () is a community in Taiwan built in the late 1940s and the 1950s whose original purpose was to serve as provisional housing for soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines of the Republic of China Armed Forces, along with their dependents from mainland China after the Government of the Republic of China (ROC) and the Kuomintang (KMT) retreated to Taiwan in 1949. They ended up becoming permanent settlements, forming distinct cultures as enclaves of mainlanders in Taiwanese cities. Over the years, many military dependents' villages have suffered from urban problems such as housing dereliction, abandonment, urban decay, and urban slum. The houses in these villages were often haphazardly and poorly constructed, having been built hastily and with limited funding. Republic Of China Air Force
The Republic of China Air Force, retroactively known by its historical name the Chinese Air Force and unofficially referred to as the Taiwanese Air Force, is the military aviation branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces, currently based in Taiwan.
