Taichung LNG Terminal
The Taichung LNG Terminal () is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Port of Taichung, Wuqi District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The terminal was inaugurated on 16 July 2009 by CPC Corporation as the second LNG terminal in Taiwan. On 24 August 2020, Port of Taichung operator Taiwan International Ports Corporation signed an agreement with CPC Corporation to lease the area next to west wharf number 11 and 12 of the port for the expansion of Taichung LNG Terminal. Liquefied Natural Gas
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas (predominantly methane, CH4, with some mixture of ethane, C2H6) that has been cooled down to liquid form for ease and safety of non-pressurized storage or transport. It takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in the gaseous state (at standard conditions for temperature and pressure). LNG is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Hazards include flammability after vaporization into a gaseous state, freezing and asphyxia. The liquefaction process involves removal of certain components, such as dust, acid gases, helium, water, and heavy hydrocarbons, which could cause difficulty downstream. Wuqi District () is a coastal suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. The Port of Taichung is located in Wuqi District. The Port of Taichung (), also Taichung Port, is a port located in Wuqi District, Taichung, Taiwan. It is the second-largest port in Taiwan after Kaohsiung Port and operated by Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Taiwan's state-owned harbor management company. The Tatan Power Plant, Dah-Tarn Power Plant or Ta-Tan Power Plant () is a gas-fired power plant in Guanyin District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Guanyin District () is a rural, coastal district in western Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Guanyin is the name of a Buddhist goddess. History Guanyin was originally named as Shiguanyin during the Qing Dynasty rule. It was renamed to Guanyin in 1920 during the Japanese rule.
