Taichung Baseball Field
The Taichung Baseball Field () is a multi-purpose stadium in North District, Taichung, North District, Taichung, Taiwan. Built in 1935 during the Taiwan under Japanese rule era, this stadium has been repeatedly refurbished and currently can seat 8,500 people. This stadium has been the home of professional baseball teams such as Fubon Guardians, Jungo Bears (1993–1995), Fubon Guardians, Sinon Bears (first half 1996), Fubon Guardians, Sinon Bulls(second half 1996–2012) of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and Taichung Agan(1997–2002) of Taiwan Major League (TML). This stadium has long been a part of the National Taiwan College of Physical Education's campus and caused certain inconvenience when hosting professional baseball games. North District () is an urban district in the Taiwanese city of Taichung. It was a part of Taichung before the City and County were amalgamated in 2010. The North District is one of Taichung's major developed shopping, education, and cultural areas. Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium
Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium () is a stadium in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. The stadium officially opened on November 9, 2006, replacing the antiquated Taichung Baseball Field. Located on the corner of Chongde Road (崇德路) and Huanzhong Road (環中路), it has considerably more parking available than the old stadium. The stadium is a venue for rock concerts and also hosted Zhang Yimou's Turandot at the Bird's Nest in 2010. Construction Construction on the stadium began in 2005 and is operating on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model that is becoming increasingly common among public works projects in Taiwan. 2006 Intercontinental Cup
The 2006 IBAF Intercontinental Cup was held in Taichung, Taiwan from November 9 through the 19th. Eight countries contested the tournament, which was played at Taichung Baseball Field and the newly built Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium. The participating countries were Cuba, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines in addition to the hosts from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). The Taiwan Major League Professional Baseball (TML; ) was a professional baseball league in Taiwan that operated from 1996 to 2003. It was established by TV tycoon Chiu Fu-sheng after a row over the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) broadcasting rights. The CPBL absorbed the TML in 2003. History Throughout the TML's history, all four teams were directly owned and managed by the Naluwan Corporation, a subsidiary of the TVBS media group, both of which were then chaired by Chiu Fu-sheng.
