Tadao Ikeda
(5 February 1905 – 5 May 1964) was a Japanese people, Japanese screenwriter and film director. After graduating from Waseda University, he joined the Shochiku studio and came to prominence writing screenplays for such directors as Yasujirō Ozu, Mikio Naruse, Kōzaburō Yoshimura, and Yasujirō Shimazu. A Story Of Floating Weeds
is a 1934 silent film directed by Yasujirō Ozu which he later remade as ''Floating Weeds'' in 1959 in color. It won the Kinema Junpo Award for best film. Plot The film starts with a travelling kabuki troupe arriving by train at a provincial seaside town. Kihachi Ichikawa (Takeshi Sakamoto), the head of the troupe, is a very popular actor. He takes time off to visit a former mistress Otsune ( Chouko Iida), with whom he had a son years before. His son, now a student, does not know that Kihachi is his father, thinking him an uncle. Kihachi and his son, Shinkichi, spend a fruitful afternoon fishing for dace in a nearby river. Ozu had wanted to name the film ''Tokyo Twilight'', but studio executives preferred a title that referenced motherhood, a popular theme in Japanese cinema at the time of release. Ozu once said that he remembered making this early film "not because it was any good, but because my father died while I was making it". Kenzō Masaoka
was an early anime creator. Masaoka was the first to use cel animation and recorded sound in anime.Kōdansha (1993). ''Japan: an illustrated encyclopedia.'' is a 1933 Japanese silent gangster film directed by Yasujirō Ozu. Written by Tadao Ikeda, the film tells the story of a gangster and his girlfriend finding redemption through the actions of an innocent girl and her not-so-innocent brother.
