TVR Cluj
TVR Cluj is public regional TV station available in Transylvania and Maramureş. It is the first regional branch of Societatea Română de Televiziune (Romanian Television Company), broadcasting since 3 January 1990. It is also the first one to broadcast on its own frequency, starting 15 March 2009—however it still produces programmes for the national stations, TVR1, TVR2 and is a main contributor to TVR3 together with other public regional stations. Its headquarters are in Cluj-Napoca. TVR Cluj broadcasts mainly in the Romanian language, but also in Hungarian and other national minorities' languages (German, Rroma, Hebrew, Ukrainian etc.). 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. Televiziunea Română (), more commonly referred to as TVR , is the short name for Societatea Română de Televiziune ("Romanian Television Society"; SRTV), the Romanian public television. It operates six channels: TVR1, TVR2, TVR3, TVR Info, TVR Cultural, TVRi, and TVR Moldova along with six regional studios in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Craiova and Târgu Mureș. TVR3
TVR 3 ( ro, TVR Trei, ) is the sixth channel of the Romanian public broadcaster, launched on 10 October 2008. It is a generalist channel, centered on reflecting regional events. It will use reports from all of its territorial (regional) studios ( București, Cluj, Craiova, Iaşi, Târgu-Mureş, and Timişoara). The channel will not have specific time slots for all the regional studios, nor will it broadcast on a regional level. It will broadcast nationwide the same regional report. In 2020, TVR 3 launched an HD broadcast on TVR+ in testing. It's not officially released because the other regional TVR channels are not in HD yet. It broadcasts in 720p format. TVR2
TVR 2 (, spelled out as ''Televiziunea Română 2'', "Romanian Television 2") is the second channel of the public broadcaster TVR. The channel was launched on May 2, 1968, but it was suspended from January 20, 1985, until February 19, 1990. From 2003, it has been a market leader in Romania with some very well thought television shows, such as ''Tonomatul DP2'' and the British television series ''Doctor Who'', but since 2015, it has been a general arts and culture channel. The main news television program of the channel is ''Ora de ştiri'' ("News Hour"), which is aired daily at 6:00 PM Romanian time. Also, another news program broadcast on this channel, ''Telejurnal'', is aired daily at 12:00 AM Romanian time on TVR 2, which used to be the main news program, until 3rd of October 2021. TVR1
TVR 1 (; spelled out as ''Televiziunea Română 1'', "Romanian Television 1") is the main channel of the Romanian public broadcaster TVR. The most important show of the channel is Jurnalul TVR, whose motto is ("The news journal as it should be"), but on 28 March 2009 was replaced by Telejurnal, which is its name till today. In 1985, Programul 1 renamed again to TVR becoming the sole television channel in Romania. In 1989, TVR1 broadcast live the events of the revolt which triggered the fall of the Communist regime, covering almost all the main events live, starting from the last speech of Nicolae Ceauşescu (on December 21, 1989) until the new power representatives arrived.
