Tsv Handschuhsheim
The TSV Handschuhsheim is a German rugby union club from Heidelberg, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga. Apart from rugby, the club also offers other sports like association football, handball and tennis. History The club was formed in 1886 in Handschuhsheim, a suburb of Heidelberg, one of the centres of German rugby. For most of its existence, it has stood in the shadow of the other, more successful rugby clubs in town, the SC Neuenheim, Heidelberger RK and RG Heidelberg. ''TSV'' had a breakthrough in 1953, when it reached the German championship final for the first time. It played in three more finals in the next four years, winning its sole championship in 1957. Three more final appearances followed in the 1960s. With the establishment of the Rugby-Bundesliga in 1971, success dropped off for the team and after one more finals appearance in 1978 a long drought followed. The German Rugby Federation (german: Deutscher Rugby-Verband or ''DRV'') is the governing body for rugby union in Germany. It organizes Germany national rugby union team, the German national team and the three league divisions: the Rugby-Bundesliga, the 2nd Rugby-Bundesliga and the Rugby-Regionalliga. TV Pforzheim
The TV Pforzheim is a German rugby union club from Pforzheim, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga, having won promotion to the league in 2011. Apart from rugby, ''TVP'' offers other sports like gymnastics, volleyball and track and field. History The club, formed as gymnastics club on 19 April 1834, does not have quite such a long history in the sport of rugby union. The side did not field an independent team throughout most of the early 2000s, instead fielding a joined side with Karlsruher SV Rugby. In 2008, ''TVP'' finally entered its own side again in the Rugby-Regionalliga Baden-Württemberg, coming fourth. The following year, the club came second, having played two games less than Heidelberger TV on top spot.
