Tāoga Niue Museum
Tāoga Niue Museum is a national museum and cultural centre located in Alofi, Niue. It replaced the Huanaki Cultural Centre & Museum, which was destroyed by Cyclone Heta in 2004. Background In 2004 Cyclone Heta hit Niue, damaging much of the capital, Alofi. Damage included the destruction of the Huanaki Cultural Centre & Museum building, and the loss of between 90–95% of the collection. Restoration of the museum and cultural preservation was recognised as an important aspect of the Government of Niue's strategic plan 2009–13. Construction for the new museum began in 2018, funded with a US$2.7 million grant from the New Zealand government. The new museum opened in October 2018. The opening coincided with Niue's celebrations of its constitution, which, for the first time, were held at a location away from parliament at the new museum. Moira Enetama
Moira Zeta Enetama is a Niuean curator and cultural activist, who, as of 2021, was acting director of the Ministry of Social Services in Niue. She is also the Director of Tāoga Niue Museum. She is a former director of Taoga Niue, the governmental department that oversees cultural activities and preservation. During her directorship of Taoga Niue, Cyclone Heta destroyed Huanaki Cultural Centre & Museum, a disaster that Enetama described as "devastating". Horniman Museum
The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a museum in Forest Hill, London, England. Commissioned in 1898, it opened in 1901 and was designed by Charles Harrison Townsend in the Modern Style. It has displays of anthropology, natural history and musical instruments, and is known for its large collection of taxidermied animals. The building is Grade II* listed. Polynesian Triller
The Polynesian triller (''Lalage maculosa'') is a passerine bird belonging to the triller genus ''Lalage'' in the cuckoo-shrike family Campephagidae. It has numerous subspecies distributed across the islands of the south-west Pacific. It is 15 to 16 cm long. The plumage varies geographically; some populations are contrastingly black and white while others have more grey or brown coloration. It is a noisy bird with a nasal, rasping call. The song is short and high-pitched. The breeding range extends through Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Niue, Wallis and Futuna, Vanuatu and the Santa Cruz Islands. It occurs in a wide variety of habitats including man-made habitats such as plantations and gardens. It feeds on insects such as caterpillars and also feeds on fruit. Auckland War Memorial Museum
The Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira (or simply the Auckland Museum) is one of New Zealand's most important museums and war memorials. Its collections concentrate on New Zealand history (and especially the history of the Auckland Region), natural history, and military history.
