Tõnu Endrekson
Tõnu Endrekson (born 11 June 1979) is an Estonian rower. He is a five time Olympic finalist and dual Olympic medal winner. He was fourth in the double sculls event with Leonid Gulov at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and won a silver medal in 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the double sculls event with Jüri Jaanson. He is a member of rowing club "Pärnu Sõudeklubi" (Pärnu Rowing Club) located in Pärnu. Junior years Endrekson competed in the World Rowing Junior Championships in 1996 in the double sculls event (24th) and 1997 in the single sculls event (16th). In 2001 he won a gold medal in the World Rowing U23 Regatta (now World Rowing U23 Championships) in the double sculls event with Leonid Gulov. Tõnu Kilgas
Tõnu Kilgas (13 August 1954 – 25 May 2021) was an Estonian singer (baritone) and stage, film, voice, and television actor. Early life and education Tõnu Kilgas was born in Tartu, the only child of Vanemuine theatre actors Lembit Mägedi and Ellen Kaarma. His parents were in a long-term relationship but not married and he took his mother's surname from her earlier marriage to actor Gunnar Kilgas. Both parents were largely absent from Kilgas' life during his childhood and he was primarily raised by his aunt. Tõnu Õnnepalu
Tõnu Õnnepalu (born 13 September 1962), also known by the pen names Emil Tode and Anton Nigov, is an Estonian poet, author and translator. Õnnepalu was born in Tallinn and studied biology at the University of Tartu from 1980 to 1985. He began his writing career as a poet in 1985 and has published three collections of his works. In 1993 he garnered international attention when his novel ''Piiririik'' (English translation: "Border State") was published under his pen name 'Emil Tode'. The book was translated into 14 languages and became the most translated Estonian book of the 1990s. In 1994 he was awarded the Baltic Assembly Prize for Literature. Õnnepalu's work often explores topics such as homosexuality, isolation and betrayal. In 1992, his poem "Inquiétude du Fini" was performed as a choral piece, with notable Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür acting as conductor. Tõnu Mellik
Tõnu Mellik (12 May 1934 Tartu – 3 June 1993 Tallinn) was an award-winning Estonia, Estonian architect active in the mid-twentieth century. Early life Tõnu Mellik graduated from Tallinn Secondary School in 1952. He went on to study Film director, film direction at the Moscow State All-Union Institute of Cinematography. In 1953 he went on to study at the Estonian Academy of Arts, State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR (ERKI) and ultimately graduated in 1959. After graduation he worked in Tallinn from 1959 to 1962 and became a member of the Union of Architects in 1960. From 1964 to 1968 he worked as a senior engineer and junior researcher at the Institute of Building and Building Materials. Tõnu Laigu
Tõnu Laigu (born 14 February 1956, in Tallinn) is an Estonian architect. From 1963 to 1974 Tõnu Laigu studied in the 46th Secondary School of Tallinn (today's Pelgulinna Gymnasium of Tallinn). From 1975 Tõnu Laigu studied in the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR (today's Estonian Academy of Arts) in the department of architecture. He graduated from the institute in 1979. From 1979 to 1989 Tõnu Laigu worked in the state design bureau Eesti Kommunaalprojekt (Estonian Communal Design). Tõnu Naissoo
Tõnu Naissoo (born 18 March 1951) is an Estonian composer and jazz pianist. Tõnu Naissoo was born in Tallinn. He is the son of composer Uno Naissoo. He began studying classical piano at the age of six at the Tallinn Music School, graduating in 1970 with a degree in music theory. In 1982 he graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory in composition under instruction from Eino Tamberg. He has played on several musical groups, including Tõnu Naissoo Trio, Optimistid (1967–1968), Collage (1967–1972), Sinilind (1971–1972), Laine (1972–1976), Synthesis (1977–1980), Kaseke (1980–1981). Tõnu Kaljuste
Tõnu Kaljuste (born August 28, 1953) is an Estonian conductor. Born in Tallinn, Kaljuste is the son of Heino Kaljuste (1925–1989), an Estonian choral conductor, and Lia Kaljuste, a radio journalist. Tõnu sang in his father's choirs as a child, and graduated from the Tallinn Music High School (''Tallinna Muusikakeskkool'') in 1971. He completed a graduate degree at the Tallinn Conservatory in 1976, studying with Jüri Variste and Roman Matsov, and continued as a postgraduate at the Leningrad Conservatory until 1978. Kaljuste took his father's role as leader of the Ellerhein Chamber choir in 1974, an ensemble that performed choral works ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary avant-garde music.
