The Bronze Soldier ( et, Pronkssõdur, russian: Бронзовый солдат, ''Bronzovyj soldat'') is the informal name of a controversial Soviet World War II war memorial in Tallinn, Estonia, built at the site of several war graves, which were relocated to the nearby Tallinn Military Cemetery in 2007. It was originally named "Monument to the Liberators of Tallinn" ( et, Tallinna vabastajate monument, russian: Монумент освободителям Таллина, ''Monument osvoboditeljam Tallina''), was later titled to its current official name "Monument to the Fallen in the Second World War", and is sometimes called , or after its old location. Toompea
Toompea (from german: Domberg, "Cathedral Hill") is a limestone hill in the central part of the city of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The hill is an oblong tableland, which measures about 400 by 250 metres, has an area of and is about 20–30 metres higher than the surrounding areas. In folklore the hill is known as the tumulus mound over the grave of Kalev, erected in his memory by his grieving wife. The history of Toompea is closely linked to the history of rulers and power in Estonia. Today Toompea is the center of the Government of Estonia and the Riigikogu (parliament), both of which are often simply referred to as ''Toompea''. The location of the Riigikogu is the Toompea Castle, situated in the southwestern corner of the hill and topped by the Tall Hermann tower. Kaarli Church
Charles's Church () is a Lutheran church in Tallinn, Estonia, built 1862–1870 to plans by Otto Pius Hippius. It is Tallinn's grandest 19th-century church. Tõnismägi hill has been the location of a chapel probably since the 14th century. In 1670, during the time of Swedish rule, the Swedish King Charles XI commissioned the construction of a church on the site, for the use of the Estonian and Finnish population of Tallinn (as opposed to the Baltic German population). The church was named after the king. In 1710, during the Great Northern War, this first wooden church was burnt down. In the 19th century, reconstruction plans were put forward. Donations of money were started in the 1850s, and the cornerstone of the new church was laid in 1862. The church, still incomplete, was inaugurated in 1870. Kesklinn (Estonian language, Estonian for ''"City centre"'') is one of the 8 administrative districts ( et, linnaosa) of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is situated on the Tallinn Bay and bordered to the northwest by the district of Põhja-Tallinn, to the west by Kristiine, to the southwest by Nõmme, to the east by Lasnamäe and Pirita, and to the south by Rae Parish, beyond Lake Ülemiste. Enn Roos
Enn Roos (20 September 1908 – 15 July 1990) was an Estonian sculptor. He was a member of the Artists Society Pallas and a founding member of the Estonian Artists Association. Roos studied in the studios of Ants Laikmaa from 1926 to 1928 and Jaan Koort from 1927 to 1928. In 1935 he was accepted into the Pallas Art School where he was greatly influenced by Anton Starkopf. Roos was a long time professor in the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR. From 1962 to 1977 he was the head of the department of sculpture. Roos is known by his portrait, female nude and animal sculptures. Notable public works include ''Bear'' (1939) in the Hirvepark in Tallinn (1939), ''Lynx'' (1983) in Tallinn Zoo.
