''Téléchat'' is a Franco-Belgian French-language children's television series created by Roland Topor and Henri Xhonneux. The series aired on France 2 as a segment of ''Récré A2'', and ran for 234 episodes between 1983 and 1986. A surreal satire of news broadcasting, the series centers around a TV news program presented by two anthropomorphic puppets—Groucha, a cat, and Lola, an ostrich. The series was later rebroadcast on France 5 in the 1990s, and on Arte in the 2010s. Roland Topor
Roland Topor (7 January 1938 – 16 April 1997) was a French illustrator, cartoonist, comics artist, painter, novelist, playwright, film and TV writer, filmmaker and actor, who was known for the surreal nature of his work. He was of Polish-Jewish origin. His parents were Jewish refugees from Warsaw. He spent the early years of his life in Savoy, where his family hid him from the Gestapo. Biography Roland Topor's parents came to France in the 1930s. In 1941 Topor's father, Abram, along with thousands of other Jewish men living in Paris, were required to register with the Vichy authorities. Topor's father was subsequently arrested and interned in a prison camp at Pithiviers, where inmates would be held before being sent to other concentration camps, usually Auschwitz. Of the thousands who were sent to Pithiviers only 159 survived. But Topor's father, Abram, managed to escape from Pithiviers and hide in an area south of Paris.

Henri Xhonneux
Henri Xhonneux (12 June 1945 – 24 March 1995) was a Belgian film director and screenwriter. He directed five films between 1970 and 1989. Arte
Arte (; (), sometimes stylized in lowercase or uppercase in its logo) is a European public service channel dedicated to culture. It is made up of three separate companies: the Strasbourg-based European Economic Interest Grouping ARTE, plus two member companies acting as editorial and programme production centres, ARTE France in Paris (formerly known as La Sept) and ARTE Deutschland in Baden-Baden (a subsidiary of the two main public German TV networks ARD and ZDF). As an international joint venture (an EEIG), its programmes focus on audiences in both countries.
