The drawings were made by architect Johan Adolf Hawerman (1812–1885) and construction was led by builder Johan Nordell. In 1984, a thorough renovation was carried out wherein the original colors were produced. These had been painted over 1958. Härjedalen Municipality (, , no, Herjedalen kommune) is a municipality in Jämtland County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Sveg. The municipality roughly, but not exactly, corresponds with the traditional province Härjedalen. The municipality was created in 1974 and is one of two in Sweden with the name of a province (Gotland Municipality is the other). It consists of nine original local government entities (as of 1863). Härjedalen (; no, Herjådalen or ) is a historical Provinces of Sweden, province (''landskap'') in the centre of Sweden. It borders the Norway, Norwegian county of Trøndelag as well as the provinces of Dalarna, Hälsingland, Medelpad, and Jämtland.
