Tyson Pencer
Tyson Pencer (born February 10, 1989) is a Canadian football offensive lineman who is currently a free agent. He was ranked as the ninth best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau September rankings for players eligible in the 2012 CFL Draft. After redshirting for the 2008 season, Pencer played his freshman and sophomore seasons for the Washington State Cougars in 2009 and 2010. He left the program for personal reasons and played for the Okanagan Sun of the Canadian Junior Football League in 2011. The Washington State Cougars football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Washington State University, located in Pullman, Washington. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). The 2012 CFL Draft took place on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM ET on TSN. 45 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The Calgary Stampeders had the most selections with eight, while Hamilton had seven picks. The Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes each had six and the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers had five picks.
