Tyrone Thompson (rugby Union)
Tyrone Thompson (born 28 May 2000) is a New Zealand rugby union player, who currently plays as a hooker for in New Zealand's domestic National Provincial Championship competition and the in Super Rugby. Early life and career Tyrone Thompson hails from Muriwai, in the Gisborne District in the northeastern corner of New Zealand's North Island. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Napier in Hawke's Bay. Tyrone and his twin brother Leo attended Napier Boys' High School, where they played first XV rugby together. He captained his team to a Hurricanes Cup 1st XV title, beating the defending champions Hastings Boys' High School 20 - 10 at on 1 September 2018. Muriwai is a settlement and rural community at the southern end of Poverty Bay, in the Gisborne District of New Zealand's North Island, south of Manutuke. Ngāti Rangiwewehi is an iwi of the Te Arawa confederation of tribes. A Ngāti Rangiwewehi kapa haka group was founded in 1968 and has published their own songs and participated in various music festivals such as Te Matatini. The tribe is a two-time contest winners. Ngāi Tāmanuhiri is a Māori iwi of New Zealand and were formerly known by the name of Ngai Tahu, and Ngai Tahu-po respectively. They are descendants of Tahu-nui (also known as Tahu potiki, or Tahu matua) who is also the eponymous ancestor of the Kai Tahu iwi of Te Waipounamu. The iwi consists of the descendants of Tamanuhiri and his two principle wives, Rongomaiawhia and Hine-nui-te-po (formerly a wife of hid neighbour Tawake-whakato). The Ranfurly Shield, colloquially known as the Log o' Wood, is a trophy in New Zealand's domestic rugby union competition. First played for in 1904, the Shield is based on a challenge system. The holding union must defend the shield in challenge matches, which are usually played at the shield holders home venue, and if the challenger is successful in their challenge they will become the new holder of the Shield. 2022 Super Rugby Pacific Season
The 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season (known as Harvey Norman Super Rugby Pacific in Australia and DHL Super Rugby Pacific in New Zealand) is the 27th season of Super Rugby, an annual rugby union competition organised by SANZAAR between teams from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga. 2020 Mitre 10 Cup
The 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season was the fifteenth season of New Zealand's provincial rugby union competition since it turned professional in 2006. The regular season began on September 11, when North Harbour hosted Canterbury. It involved the top fourteen rugby unions of New Zealand. For sponsorship reasons, the competition was known as the Mitre 10 Cup and it was the fifth season under the lead sponsor. The winner of the Championship, Hawke's Bay was promoted to the Premiership, the seventh placed Premiership team, North Harbour was relegated to the Championship. Format The Mitre 10 Cup standings were sorted by a competition points system. Four points were awarded to the winning team, a draw equaled two points, whilst a loss amounted to zero points.
