Tylomelania Perfecta
''Tylomelania perfecta'' is a species of freshwater snail with an operculum, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Pachychilidae. This is the first species of the genus ''Tylomelania'' that was described (under the name ''Melania perfecta'') by malacologist Albert Mousson in 1849. Distribution This species occurs in south, south-east and central Sulawesi, Indonesia.von Rintelen T. & Glaubrecht M. (2005). "Anatomy of an adaptive radiation: a unique reproductive strategy in the endemic freshwater gastropod ''Tylomelania'' (Cerithioidea: Pachychilidae) on Sulawesi, Indonesia and its biogeographical implications." '' Biological Journal of the Linnean Society'' 85: 513–542. . It is a widespread species of ''Tylomelania''. Ecology This is a riverine species. References External links * Sarasin P. & Sarasin F. Animal
Animals are multicellular, eukaryotic organisms in the Kingdom (biology), biological kingdom Animalia. With few exceptions, animals Heterotroph, consume organic material, Cellular respiration#Aerobic respiration, breathe oxygen, are Motility, able to move, can Sexual reproduction, reproduce sexually, and go through an ontogenetic stage in which their body consists of a hollow sphere of Cell (biology), cells, the blastula, during Embryogenesis, embryonic development. Over 1.5 million Extant taxon, living animal species have been Species description, described—of which around 1 million are Insecta, insects—but it has been estimated there are over 7 million animal species in total. Animals range in length from to . They have Ecology, complex interactions with each other and their environments, forming intricate food webs. The scientific study of animals is known as zoology. Most living animal species are in Bilateria, a clade whose members have a Symmetry in biology#Bilate ...

Mollusk
Mollusca is the second-largest phylum of invertebrate animals after the Arthropoda, the members of which are known as molluscs or mollusks (). Around 85,000  extant species of molluscs are recognized. The number of fossil species is estimated between 60,000 and 100,000 additional species. The proportion of undescribed species is very high. Many taxa remain poorly studied. Molluscs are the largest marine phylum, comprising about 23% of all the named marine organisms. Numerous molluscs also live in freshwater and terrestrial habitats. They are highly diverse, not just in size and anatomical structure, but also in behaviour and habitat. The phylum is typically divided into 7 or 8  taxonomic classes, of which two are entirely extinct. Cephalopod molluscs, such as squid, cuttlefish, and octopuses, are among the most neurologically advanced of all invertebrates—and either the giant squid or the colossal squid is the largest known invertebrate species. The gas ...

Riverine
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases, a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Small rivers can be referred to using names such as creek, brook, rivulet, and rill. There are no official definitions for the generic term river as applied to geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream is defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; examples are "run" in some parts of the United States, "burn" in Scotland and northeast England, and "beck" in northern England. Sometimes a river is defined as being larger than a creek, but not always: the language is vague. Rivers are part of the water cycle. Water generally collects in a river from precipitation through a drainage basin from surface runoff and other sources such as groundwater recharge, springs, a ...

Tylomelania Perfecta Shell 2
''Tylomelania'' is a genus of freshwater snails which have an Operculum (gastropod), operculum, aquatic animal, aquatic gastropod mollusks in the family Pachychilidae. In the aquarium hobby, snails from this genus are commonly known as "rabbit snails" (not to be confused with Anaspidea, sea hares). A sister group (the closest relative) of ''Tylomelania'' is genus ''Pseudopotamis'' (2 species living on the Torres Strait Islands).von Rintelen T., Stelbrink B. Marwoto R. M. & Glaubrecht M. (2014). "A Snail Perspective on the Biogeography of Sulawesi, Indonesia: Origin and Intra-Island Dispersal of the Viviparous Freshwater Gastropod ''Tylomelania''". ''PLoS ONE'' 9(6): e98917. . ''Tylomelania'' and ''Pseudopotamis'' split in the Middle Miocene c. 19.5 Mya. Distribution These freshwater snails are Endemism, endemic to Sulawesi in Indonesia, with the vast majority restricted to Lake Poso and the Malili Lake system (consisting of Lake Matano, Matano and Lake Towuti, Towuti, and the ...
