Paul May
Paul May (8 May 1909 – 25 February 1976) was a German film director and editor. He directed 40 films between 1935 and 1972. Biography He was the son of Peter Ostermayr, a film producer with Universum Film AG, and his wife Olga, ''née'' Wernhard. After secondary school in Feldkirch, he entered to film industry and trained in film laboratory work. He became a film editor in 1930 and assistant director in 1935. His first film as director was ''Edelweißkönig'', in 1938. After the Second World War, he adopted the pseudonym Paul May. His greatest successes were '' 08/15'' (1954), ''The Forests Sing Forever'' (1959), ''Via Mala'' (1961) from the book by John Knittel, and ''Scotland Yard Hunts Dr. Mabuse'' (1963) with Peter van Eyck. He also directed for television. He directed more than forty films between 1935 and 1972. ''Two People'' (German: ''Zwei Menschen'') is a 1930 German historical drama film directed by Erich Waschneck and starring Charlotte Susa, Gustav Fröhlich and Fritz Alberti. The film was distributed by the German subsidiary of Universal Pictures. It is adapted from 1911 novel of the same title by Richard Voss. It has been filmed in Germany on two other occasions a 1924 silent '' Two People'' by Hanns Schwarz and a 1952 sound film '' Two People'' by Paul May.Goble p.484 The film's sets were designed by the art directors Leopold Blonder and Willy Schiller. Walter Sedlmayr (6 January 1926 – 14 July 1990) was a popular German stage, television, and film actor from Bavaria. His murder in 1990 was widely publicized. Career After his 1945 wartime ''Abitur,'' Sedlmayr served as a ''Flakhelfer'' towards the end of World War II. His acting career began with minor roles with the ''Münchner Kammerspiele,'' for which he played more than 25 years, and in numerous ''Heimatfilme'' during the 1940s and 1950s. In 1971, by now an associate of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Sedlmayr was briefly arrested because a stolen artwork, the ''Blutenburger Madonna'', was found in his house.
