Two On The Steppes
''Two on the Steppes'' (russian: Двое в степи) is a 1964 Soviet drama film directed by Anatoly Efros. Plot The film takes place in the summer of 1942, when on the Don the Soviet army tries to repel the German fascists. In the center of the plot is a young lieutenant Ogarkov, who is sent to the division by order of redeployment. He wanders all night in the steppe and cannot cope with the task, for which he must be shot. Convoy Dzhurabaeva leads him to be shot across the steppe, but they gradually become friends. Anatoly Efros
Anatoly Vasilievich Efros (russian: Анатолий Васильевич Эфрос; July 3, 1925, Kharkiv — January 13, 1987, Moscow) was a Soviet theatre and film director. He was a leading interpreter of Russian classics during the Era of Stagnation and "received numerous awards for creative excellence". His writings on theatre were published in English under the titles ''The Joy of Rehearsal: Reflections on Interpretation and Practice'' () and ''The Craft of Rehearsal: Further Reflections on Interpretation and Practice'' (). Children's Theatre and the Lenkom Efros was born in Kharkiv. In 1954, he was appointed to run the Central Theatre for Children in Moscow and managed to transform it from a conservative backwater into one of the most fashionable Soviet theatres. Emmanuil Genrikhovich Kazakevich (russian: Эммануи́л Ге́нрихович Казаке́вич, yi, עמנואל קאַזאַקעװיטש; February 24, 1913 – September 22, 1962) was a Soviet author, poet and playwright of Jewish extraction, writing in Russian and Yiddish. Biography Early life Kazakevich was born at Kremenchuk in Ukraine (then part of Imperial Russia) in 1913 and received training as an engineer at Kharkiv.
