Rafael Gil (22 May 1913 – 10 July 1986) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. His film ''La guerra de Dios'' (1953) won the Bronze Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1953 and also won best film and best director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. His film ''La noche del sábado'' (1950) was nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1950 Venice Film Festival and his film ''El beso de Judas'' (1954) was also nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1954 festival in Venice. His film ''Let's Make the Impossible!'' (1958) was nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has won nine prizes of the National Syndicate of Spectacle of Spain. Gil was a prominent director of the Franco era. Alberto Closas Lluró (30 October 1921, in Barcelona – 19 September 1994, in Madrid) was a prolific Spanish film actor who appeared in the Cinema of Argentina in the 1940s and 1950s and in Spanish cinema after 1955. His family emigrated to Argentina in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War where in 1942 he acted in his first film '' Nada más que amor''. María Begoña Labraga Picado (1 April 1925 in Bilbao, Spain – 12 April 2020 in Madrid, Spain), better known by the stage name of Mary Begoña, was a Spanish vedette and actress. She started dancing at age 7 and performed in venues in Madrid while she was studying at the Academies of Quiroga, Ompín and Monreal. Then she studied with Antonio Bautista and Sacha Goudine in Barcelona. She debuted in a musical revue at the age of fourteen and during Spanish Civil War (from 1936 to 1939) was part of the CNT Union. Juan Santamaría Rodríguez (August 29, 1831 – April 11, 1856) was a Drummer (military), drummer in the Costa Rican army, officially recognized as the Hero (title), national hero of his country for his actions in the 1856 Second Battle of Rivas, in the Filibuster War. He died in the battle carrying a torch he used to light the enemy stronghold on fire, securing a victory for Costa Rica against American mercenary William Walker (filibuster), William Walker and his forces. Thirty five years after his death, he began to be idolized and was used as a propaganda tool to inspire Costa Rican nationalism.
